Hi. My name is Rob and I'm the Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) at Accrington Stanley. It's only a month until Stanley play Barnsley at the Wham Stadium, the first time Barnsley have played in Accrington since January 1960 and the scene of your record away victory (9-0) in February 1934. If you've got any questions about the 2018 fixture or your visit to Accrington, please post them here and I'll do my best to answer them.
How many tickets will we get? Edit - congratulations on your promotion last season and I would absolutely love to see you finish in the top six this season.
I expect 1700 - 2000 tickets will be available for you to buy from your club when they go on sale. We are living in dreamland at the moment. Last season was something special. I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip to the Wham. It'll be different but you'll certainly be made welcome.
Wham Stadium? What connection do the late George Michael and Andrew Ridgley have with Accrington please?
Glad to see you doing well. Looking forward to making the game. Will be my 99th League club visited. all watching Barnsley.
Remember that two thirds of your allocation is on the open Coppice terrace. The rest are seats in our new Eric Whalley Studio.co.uk stand. I've visited over 200 clubs watching Stanley rise through the Leagues. Lancashire Combination, Cheshire League, NW Counties Leagues, Northern Premier Leagues , Conference and Leagues One and Two.
Would have been better named after this classic...... https://www.britishcornershop.co.uk/wham-bar-original-raspberry-chew-bar I hope Carl Rice who was in the famous milk advert as a kid, goes to watch them from time to time. Brilliant actor in the Sky 1 comedy Trollied.
Ale houses- We have a fanzone/ marquee open from 12:30pm until kick off (£2 a pint) and after the match with live music. There's the Crown Pub next to the Ground on the main Road. There's The Castle and the Grey Horse between the Town Centre and the ground. And a Wetherspoons in the Town Centre too. Greasy spoons- Wetherspoons or cafes in town centre. We do great burgers at the stadium too. Kebab houses- Santas on Abbey St or Zorbas in Clayton-Le-Moors Taxi firms- MAX Cabs 01254 555555
Hope the club make a good and fair job of allocating the tickets. We’ll have had probably 8 away games when they go on sale. Need to start at 6 aways I reckon & gradually work down.
Does the milk advert thing grate a bit? I'd have thought your supporters would hate hearing it constantly after all these years??
