You know, this could’ve all gone so wrong; new owners, bonkers managerial appointments, relegation, loss of club heroes, etc.

But I have never been this excited about the future of Barnsley FC, and its role within the community.

Stuff like this makes me proud to call myself a lifelong reds fan, and I for one hope Stendel is here to stay.

    Fabulous.

But really, only 2 schools in Barnsley that teach German?

I wonder if he means primary schools? Most primary schools I know teach French or Spanish.

I did German as a kid, as well as French. Just shocked onto 2 schools teach it now, and I bet zero teach mandarin ;-)

Most go with French or Spanish - German is quite tricky. Having said that my daughters did Mandarin

I quite enjoyed German as a kid, far more than French. But then there were constant Allo allo references from the teacher each lesson... so that might have some bearing!

I did at secondary but found it tricky - didn't understand the two genders in French but German had four didn't it?

12 and 16 versions of "a" and "the" marvellously easy! Mind you, most of them were just about the same, so that made it easier. Would make it much easier in all languages to be genderless. Move with the times people ;-)
