about the bloke in Old No 7 who got served ahead of me for basically being tall and rude.

As a short lass this does happen, but the barmaid had to actually look over me to serve this guywho was standing directly behind me. She then apologised as she passed his pint over my head, to get it to him, spilling it on me as she reached over me
    .
Absolutely does my nut in. Bar staff don't even have to add up these days. The till does that for them. So their one job, is to notice who's next. Yet 9 times out of 10 you're greeted with the cop out greeting, "Who's next please?"

Anyway, if it was you, show some chuffing manners next time, you knew I was next!

The worst type of nobheads are queue jumpers at bars. Only followed by the bar staff that can't keep track of who was there first.

I love it when the till malfunctions. A lot of them can't even work out how much change to give you.

Not sticking up for anyone, but if you didnt speak up when she asked who's next I would assume that you were waiting for something and already been served.

That does surprise me as a 6' 6" punter I find that shorter staff tend to ignore me as there is no eye contact .
Maybe I should wear a t shirt that says "please serve me" at their level .

If you didn’t reply when she asked who was next then you’d obviously ruled yourself out of bring next served.

I did! I spoke up when she came my way. in my world I check that people who were obviously ahead of me are served first. Sadly some people are just ignorant.
As friends who know me will testify, im very experienced at going to the bar!

It's annoying isn't it? I get ignored loads of times and I'm sure it's because they think the guy who they serve instead might get aggressive whereas we're less likely to make a fuss. They don't pass it over my head though, I'm over 6ft in my going out heels so I'm taller than some of the guys.

I’m taller than 6ft in my going out heels - and I can tell yer it’s nowt to do with height.
Last season I was in Brahmas and people were getting served either side of me - and so I said to this sniffling little foooking barman “am I fooking invisible or what”.
Anyway - I got thrown out.
    Again.

It's usually women who get served first, in fact in nightclubs they're told to serve women quickest

I generally help bar staff out by pointing out who was there before me if they ask 'who's next?'. Similarly I also politely explain to people who barge in that others were there before them. Bar etiquette only works if most people are engaged in it. It's odd that people who are perfectly civil in other environments change when they are getting a round in. That said some people are just *****.

This is what I do. In fact I had just told the bar staff that a Bristol Rovers fan was ahead of me, and then when it was my turn, the guy behind me just shouted up. It was obvious from the £20 note in my hand and the fact I was looking directly at the member of staff that I was next. I turned round to look the guy in the eye and he just shrugged.
Realise that staff can't follow everything, but if I ran a bar the "Who's next please?" question that puts the onus onto the customer, when the bar staff have ONE job to get right, would be banned. It's just lazy service.

That's not obvious though imo. You could quite easily have had your order taken and waiting to receive it and pay. Just saying. If you had spoken up first, he wouldn't have had the chance to butt in.

I completely understand your frustration, but it's not something worth holding on to. Nobody was to blame, it's one of those things.

****** to that. The guy knew he was jumping the queue. He just thought he was more important.

The member of staff realised and didn't have the guts to acknowledge it.

Obviously trying to be the big man.
Barnsley culture that forces men to act like they do - not just towards women but also towards other men.
Women of Barnsley have a lot to put up with.
    They have my total sympathy.

I'm only 5 and a half inches tall. I NEVER get served in pubs.
