I can’t remember the centre backs doing a lot wrong after Pinnock recovered from his bad start. Lindsay’s diagonal ball out to Potts in the second half was quality. If people can’t remember that then they must’ve been drinking a fair bit. Probably the second best bit of play by a Barnsley player yesterday behind Hedges touch to Potts when he hit the bar
Not sure about the 2 you mention have to have a look back one of their best chances 1st half was from bahre getting caught in possession leaving us wide open. Lindsay was awful at times 2nd half he was out of position and gave them a great chance to take the lead which they failed to take (a better side would have) apart from one through ball) his passing was poor. I like Lindsay but I don't get the blowing smoke up his backside every game even when he is poor someone here described his passing as superb? Wow!
A couple of good passes at one point he was slicing everything 2nd half he got caught out of position a better team would of scored they didn't pull the trigger. They weren't terrible but both made mistakes yesterday. 5 people have voted pinnock for mom 1 Lindsay can't say I'd of voted either...
Lindsay made 2 or 3 vorldie diagonal passes out to the right ving vhich opened them up, he’s the only one back there who’s villing to look for a forward pass too. Sometimes he’s gunna give the ball away, just like John Stones does but most on here turn a blind eye to his mistakes because he’s frum tarn. He made one massive error on Saturday vhich should have been punished but other than that, held that back line together. He’s the best of 3 centre backs by a hundred million miles.
Dunt think there is much between the 3 of em at the moment, they aren`t the good the bad the ugly but have been all of them at some point in their reds career.
Its always been obvious that if a player tries something at pace at Barnsley, he'll get more plaudits than critics. And the opposite is true for a technically good player who thinks faster than the rest but where things break down. Quite of few of Bahres passes broke down because the player he wanted to make a run didn't, or who he wanted to give it to feet, then moved. He did get caught in possession a few times, but he did put in a few good tackles and he did set up Moore close to half time with his karate kid effort. I think our two areas for most improvement remain, our decision making and crossing. Technically, we've some really decent players. Thiam and Cavare seem able to control really difficult or high passes. Dougall, Mowatt, Bahre and Moncur are very comfortable in possession and can turn quickly. But all of them commonly misplace passes or fail to move into the right spaces to give options. What we don't have is someone who can beat a man. Hedges and Thiam perhaps the nearest to that, but an ex winger who i'm shan't name would have made a massive difference to this team.
That's true. He's so far ahead of most with his inteligence, that they aren't always on his wavelength when expecting a ball. As the season goes on the squad will get more used to the Bahre way of thinking and things like passing and positional sense will click more often. Plus he's probably missing Dougall being beside him.
Bahres problem isn’t people being on his vavelength, it’s that he’s novhere near at the level required. In a game of football you could probably argue maybe once or twice players aren’t on his vavelength but vhen he’s continually losing the ball and slowing down attacks, he’s the problem.
It was a clever through ball for Moore. His clever flick to release Moncur who then squared for McGeehan v Luton was also inventive. Don't see how either of these instances were slowing play down. This team, irrespective of when they were signed, have hardly played together, so its natural they will still be getting used to how each other plays and fitting into the overall style of play the coach wants.
Its interesting on here at the moment , there was a thread slating Cavare & in this thread both Pinnock & Lindsay are being questioned & of course Davies is only one mistake away from getting hammered on here , it makes you wonder how we have kept so many clean sheets & got such a healthy goal difference with having such a bad defence , I despair at times ,
Think our defensive record is a mixture of both very poor opposition and dominating a lot of games early season in midfield. Cavare is an absolute liability and needs getting shut of ASAP. Pinnock is decent and I’d keep him but he’s nowhere near Lindsay’s level. Both left backs aren’t good enough IMO. Davies is a great shot stopper but the rest of his game is poor, doesn’t come for anything he should and comes for things he shouldn’t even be thinking of coming for. Kicking is ridiculously bad.
I draw a comparison to when Danny Wilson signed. He looked terrible first 10 or so games, as players couldn't read the balls he was playing. Saturday he did look off the pace though.
I think he's generally linked up better with Moncur, but yes, wasn't his best game, but don't think he deserves the excessive rage from some quarters.
I like Bahre and think he will turn out to be a good player. Was poor on Saturday though. And I wouldn't give him too much praise for the clever ball through to Moore, because that was Mowatt...
All the midfielders on Saturday had an 'off' day. The one thing I will say in Bahre's defence is that he doesn't 'give' the ball away as much as others.
Pinnock and Lindsey are the reason we have won the last two game and are the major contributors to our clean sheets this season
No they don't have a competition, the problem is they don't have a lot of options in front of them as the team is so narrow
Beg your pardon, it was Bahres fantastic sliding tackle that won the ball and got it to Mowatt to lob through.
