Everton FC, with all their millions and strong youth setup, could only name four substitutes this evening for an u21 side.

If any of our players gets injured in this farce it’s a travesty.

If league 1 & 2 teams get in bother with FA 'cos they don't field regular 1st team players, then Prem U21 teams should be penalised or banned from the 'cup' if they remove players for another game - shows they don't regard this as a serious thing so ALL Prem teams should be kicked out and let this be as originally planned... a competition for lower leagues with a chance of a final at Oakwell South.

Look.. while we all agree that prem teams shouldn't be allowed in. The FA should look on this, and other games where a "good strength" team should have been played, and decide that it's not good for the health of the lower teams.. but then, it's just money that prevails these days. #lovebarnsleyHATEfootball

Everton were also playing Gor Mahia in the Sports Pesa cup final.

It just underlines what a farce this tournament has become since it was changed to accommodate the Premier League. I think there is an almost universal contempt for the new format amongst fans of the clubs who should be in the tournament by right so it would be fitting if the attendance at every game was in double figures. It won't happen though.
