Great song. Apparently Glen Campbell never really finished it but the record company heard it and insisted it got put out asap. In fact, if you listen to the lyrics they sound half finished or it seems like it's missing a verse.
Apparently, he wrote it as a tribute to his father who was a lineman, repairing telephone lines, I think.
A great artiste.I watched the documentary of him while he was suffering from alzheimers and although he was at a late stage of the awful disease as soon as he was on stage he sang and played his guitar like he always did.
