A special mention today to John Hopkinson who played the Last Post before the minutes silence , again it was immaculate . I think he has done it for the last three years at Oakwell & he is a class act, which everyone who witnessed todays tribute would have appreciated , well done John & for all others who took part , it was excellent .
Footnote : I forgot to say well done to both sets of fans , their behaviour was impeccable & the reception given to the members of the armed force was first class , well done to everyone .
Best sounding and most poignant Last Post you get to hear. Cos it can't be easy to do. That bloke is a true craftsman. And the crowd did him justice.
Everything was classy and faultless. Brilliantly respected by both sets of fans. Well deserved standing ovations. Matchday programme was good too.
One of our favourite weekends is Remembrance weekend, getting John here. He's a thoroughly decent bloke, proper fan and refuses to take payment for his services. The little piece in the programme explained the mountain of work he gets through, it's an absolute privilege to have him play every year because, and I'm not kidding, I've never heard the Last Post played better than he does it. Anywhere. I love the military too so like I say, it's always a pleasure this weekend. And you could hear a pin drop. Fantastic respect shown by all. So thank you! We'll stick videos up etc tomorrow that covered the day, once the embargo lifts. Lest we forget.
Hey Whitey, the Scoreboard didn’t go unnoticed either during the playing of the Last Post. Loved the graphics ( or whatever they’re called nowadays) of the Eastand and the Poppy’s. A massive well done to the club and all concerned. I felt so proud that our club provided such a fitting tribute. Well done to both sets of supporters for their impeccable part in this as well.
Totally agree. I've listened to many others over many years and must say, that was the absolute best ever. Well done John, Club and Supporters.
Too right, a little remiss of me not to mention same in my post. It was exceptional. Well done and thank you John.
