To go from a cruising position of 3-0 up against Exeter City to then tumble to a 3-4 home defeat looked a bit suspicious at the time. If anyone suggested that the players were told to lose the game because "we don't want to go up" you would have to wonder if that were true but, surely, it couldn't be, could it? Barnsley would never deliberately lose a game, especially at home. Would they?
All I can say is if the idea was to lose it was a bit daft going 3-0 up in the first place. First time I've heard a whisper of that story but I've no evidence either way.
RIP JIM. Did well given he was working on a shoestring. Weren’t it Zigga Zagga and his mate who could be heard in lundwood leading the Iley out chant.
Also the start of my Barnsley watching era and remember fondly the players previously mentioned so he must have been doing something right. RIP Jim and thank you for the life long memories you created
