Don't begrudge him giving it a go he shouldn't just give up. I do think it was very poor nothing could have been sorted for him to play Saturday however we don't know If the club tried or just went with the loan cover.
Yeah, I’m sure he would rather be playing in league 1 in a standing stadium in front of 5,000 people than training for a week with an international squad that includes the likes of Gareth Bale.
Yeah sadly he's wasting his time. He's never going to get a game. Tonight would have been perfect in a nothing game against poor opposition. Southgate has it right giving as many of his squad a chance such as subbing the keeper against USA.
Adam Davies spends a week testing his skills against one of the worlds best strikers of a football in Gareth Bale and we’ve got people saying he’s wasting his time. Ridiculous. People went on and on about him not being pushed hard enough but as soon as it comes to training with keepers much better than him and players with players we could only dream of having he’s wasting his time? Again, Ridiculous.
well at the end of the day he may have not done himself that good a favour this time.... our Loanee (Smith) was outstanding on Saturday , I would like to see him (Smith) extended loan wise maybe even make a serious offer to sign him too. We could then send Walton out on loan, when fit, to develop him. Smith would really give Davies a more serious race for the keepers shirt.
Not his biggest fan by any stretch but theres no way i would criticise him for trying his best to play for his country. Anyone saying hes wasting his time is an idiot. Hes in his NATIONAL squad. 1st choice, 2nd, 3rd who cares? Hes in the national squad. Must be proud as punch. Hes gaining new experience, training with new people and will bring back that knowledge to our club.
It frustrates me too, especially under the circumstances we had on Saturday but that's the nature of international football - he's part of a squad. He might get a game, he might not but if he doesn't turn up he definitely won't ever play. We need to be able to cope with losing him for a week and so far we have.
Completely agree, he comes across as quite shy, great thing for him to be in a new higher calibre environment that helps shape his character and ambition, not just playing minutes, but the hours of different training and practice.
So he’s two injuries / loss of form away from playing for his country & people are saying he’s wasting his time? Really? Good luck to the lad, hope he gets a cap soon, would be mad not to go
If he gets himself established as a face in the squad, he’s not far from playing. Danny Ward doesn’t play for Leicester, Wayne Hennessy isn’t the greatest premier league number one so it isn’t unimaginable that palace would drop him - and we may even be in the same division as them next season. He’s not so far away from a cap. Alex McCarthy is barely third choice for England but he got a game after a few squads. On the other hand if we are promoted there’s no guarantee Stendel will keep him as first choice either - so this might be his only opportunity to try to be an international footballer. I have no issues whatsoever with him going up to their squad. So he’s third choice? How is that bad?If he didn’t go they’d find someone else. Wales aren’t the greatest side but he’s not going to come back a worse player having trained with people like Bale, Ramsey etc for a week or so. He might end up at a major tournament - third choice or not that would be a massive thing for him.
We can't extend the loan, as it was only allowed outside of the transfer window while both our senior goal keepers were unavailable. So he has to go back. The only possibility would be to get him again in the January transfer window. It'd be foolish to judge him on just one appearance, although he did very well obviously. They will have seen a bit more of him in training as well of course, so who knows. I wouldn't want to write off Davies just yet anyway. He's been doing quite alright this season.
