Only sold 1300 so far according to their SLO last night. Disappointed but not surprised springs to mind.
If they have sold 1300 the gate will still be bigger than rotherham v sheff united as united will only get allocated 2600 and it will be all ticket I'd imagine. Poor from Donny though I expected stairfoot roundabout to be gridlocked with caravans and 4x4s.
Two SY derbies, plus the wendies at home to Derby, which is nearly another local derby itself. I’m amazed the higher echelons at South Yorkshire police haven’t spontaneously combusted. I did wonder why our kick off hadn’t been moved; if donny are only fetching 1500 it’s hardly a big occasion. We will likely have an attendance in the 12000’s if so; disappointing.
I forgot they'll all be coming in over Stairfoot. That'll be fun... Best schedule in a bit more time. I'd rather spend a bit longer in the pub beforehand than a bit shorter.
It's an early ko at Rotherham which means everywhere within 4 miles of Meadowhall will be gridlocked from 10am till dark. Christmas shopping, Derby fans coming up and a local derby will see to that. I may have to set off before then and sit it out somewhere. At least all the Blunts will have disappeared by the time I'll be getting home.
That guys spot on, they're doing well in the league, it's just up the road. They should be bringing a decent following.
A few eight berth caravans coming across, Joseph Brammahs are putting on Hedgehog pie, a band called Gypsy Kings will be playing from 7pm and Paddy Doherty will be on the decks from 9pm. There's signs going up saying "grabbing will be tolerated after 6pm" to allow the Barnsley locals to flee home safely without being "grabbed" by their aids ridden, vest wearing visitors for the day. Hopefully if they behave themselves the landlords agreed to put the boxing ring up at the end of the night so they can have a bare knuckle knock out with their cousins/girlfriends.
Yeah, part of rivalry is that bit of needle that even sometimes turns into a bit of fisty cuffs. I don't think of Rotherham, Scunny or Donny are like that, inside or outside the ground. It doesn't feet especially good beating them, similar to Bradford or Huddersfield really. Maybe they are like that when they play each other? Who knows?
Never really understood getting hung up on how many supporters a team brings to Oakwell. They'll travel in whatever numbers they deem appropriate for their current situation, form, style of play etc. Welcome those that come, but equally respect any Donny fans' reasons for staying away; its their decision and theirs alone.
Makes the game more of an event, better atmosphere and more brass for us. Better than playing Fleetwood or Crawley with 80 away fans.
