Brahmas before the game - about 30 Donny fans doing their best to be naughty. Doormen and police wading in - Donny fans escaped through the back door throwing glasses.
Didn’t see any involvement by Barnsley fans.

Walked up to ground with Barnsley fans holding flares - which looked great. Although the police didn’t appreciate them.

Good turn out by Donny fans 1800 making some noise. I like Donny - potentially a biggish club if they can get a bit of success.

    Match.
    Donny showed some good touches.
McGeehan getting over run in midfield.
    Behre not providing anything.

Most startling point - Barnsley have no width.
Barnsley tactics are similar to watching Rugby - when they get the ball there are 4 or 5 players bunched together charging forward in a pack.
When they get to the edge of the box someone then pulls the trigger - some spectacular goals recently being scored - but there are very few chances being created within the box.
When there is - we now have a player in Woodrow to pounce on those chances.

But lack of opportunities in the box is because there are no outlets out wide - we play far too narrow.
Only outlet wide are the fullbacks when they push forward - which of course leaves gaps behind them when we lose the ball.
    Cavare was immense going forward.
Luckily for Barnsley, when the fullbacks are out of position we have two exceptional centre backs that can cover.
But it’s a risky strategy - we could get caught out if we come across quality strikers.

Clearly Stendel needs more player options to change tactics so we are able to play with out and out wingers that can actually beat a defender and put a good cross in for Moore and Woodrow.

Half time - does Barnsley look around for the daftest person they can find to play the records.
    Oliver’s Army
...... and I would rather be anywhere else but here to day.
What a fabulous advert for the club.
People actually LOL at the duffer playing this.

Why did you have to mention the idiots in Brammahs in your notes and not just stick to writing about football?

    I write about the day.
    Not just the match.
    Is that alright by you?
Have I got your blessing and permission to do that?

Maybe he bought the 7'' single for when we had McBurnie and he's just trying to get his money's worth?

I don’t agree with some of your analysis but thanks for taking the time out to give us your thoughts on the day.

Have to say that we only had two out-and-out defenders yesterday, Pinnock and Lindsay. The ethos is to attack as much as we can, which can make for great entertainment. The mixfield struggle to muster a tackle between them (by tackle I mean serious attempt to win the ball).
If we bad a midfielder who could make serious tackles this would take a significant amount of pressure off Pinnock/Lindsay/Pinnillos.
In the pre-season Cavare played in mid

Suit yourself gorpshite but don’t you think it gives the idiots some publicity they’d be happy to wear as a badge of honour. You know like the TV cameras tend not to show them. As for the full backs, ( Hedges and Cavare) It wasn’t just being caught out of position it was being caught in possession when they had ample time to move the ball, Cavare cost us the goal and almost the game with his needless dallying on the ball

    Continuous personal abuse.
    Nowt done by Admin......... again
They probably think I deserve it for actually expressing my views.
Although it’s watter off a ducks back to me - many have stopped posting because they just can’t stand the personal abuse when they give their views - doesn’t hold well for the future of this message board.

If I was Admin as soon as I saw any personal abuse it would be an immediate weeks ban.

I was waiting for someone to post something on those lines.
    So predictable.

Only very rarely am I reduced to name calling.
And that is only on the rare occasions that I’m receiving a torrent of personal abuse that Admin are ignoring.

If people stop posting because of me - it’s not because of me giving personal abuse - it’s because they have lost the debate they are having with me.
That is to say - i have proved them to be wrong.
If someone proves to me that I’m wrong then I accept it.
Some haven’t the ability to do that.
And jealousy and anger then takes over them.

    Mostly jealousy I think.

Something almost Trumpian about your posts these days. Whatever the subject, ultimately it's all about you.

Oh, by the way, where was the abuse in the Bielsa thread? Given you've now been asked countless times, we're all getting a little impatient waiting for an answer.

Some interesting analysis there but sadly wildly inaccurate e.g. the reference to how rugby is played (it’s nothing like this description) and the mention of Cavare being immense when going forward (he was nothing like this description).

Now I will hold this up mi Lord as a fine example of a post on a message board.
    No abuse.
    Has a totally different opinion.
    Great stuff !!!

And that’s what a message board should look like IMO.

Sorry son but I don't see any problem with YN sharing his full match day experience with us .
He is writing about the opposing fans actions whilst the home fans didn't react .
For me that is good publicity for us reds .
Keep your reports going YN .
Ignore the ... choose your own words here .

Why I liken it to rugby - is because they are relying too much on power play - running forward as a pack.
It’s like a cavalry charge once they pick the ball up - and its all centred down the middle of the field.
Not much finesse or stealth in the forward play.
