Derby paid 3million for Jack Marriott with add ons so that would be the bench mark. Keiffer signed a 3 year deal with option for a extra one.
There’s no doubt in my mind that we’ll receive bids. I’d hope that we will at least keep him until the end of the season given that we are still in the play off places and automatic is still the target. If we keep him this season and he scores 20+ we’d probably get £2 million?
If he got his head over ball when shootin he`d probably hev double that amount. Gerrin im at in training keep peckin his heead abart it till it sinks in then his price will rocket.
Thought we had reached a play off final in 99 2000 and scored a hat ful of goals. Losing that final was nail in the coffin - losing Hignett had a bigger impact
I think Moore is the one multi bids will come in for. We were told we had offers in the summer, but the good thing we have him contracted til 2021, so an offer is going to have to be a big one. Having said that, if a big enough club comes knocking on the door, Moore will want to go. I doubt he'd throw his teddy out of the cot, but unless we get promoted, I suspect Moore will be gone in the summer. Even if we got promoted, we may well cash in and reinvest anyway. Would be a pity, as a few times now Moore and Woodrow have linked nicely which didn't happen at all with Bradshaw. The longer they play together, the more goals that partnership is going to reap.
I think he has failed at Championship level up to now. Mick is a good judge & let him go. Last season for us he wasn't clinical enough. He's dropped down to L1 & it is clearly benefitting him. If I were coaching him I'd say see this season out at Barnsley. Clock up over 20 goals in L1 & your stock will rise. At the moment the only championship clubs that will take a punt are the ones fighting relegation. That could be another backwards step for him.
Agree with that, he misses too many chances to be effective at that level where he will get less especially in a struggling side. That said if one can in and offered the money and a pay rise for him he would likely still want to go.
A did Jamie Vardy in a struggling Leicester side. Players improve and clubs pay big for on-form goalscorers.
Mick also gave Frank Nouble over 50 league appearances so sometimes his judgement can be off. I think Kieffer is a handful in the championship. Yes, he won’t score as many as he does in league 1 but he still does a job in the championship. I would imagine this time next year he’ll be a championship player, whether that’s with us or someone else.
Probably. My post suggested he'd be better staying put till the summer, in the interests of both parties.
Can't see the point of selling him in Jan and weakening our promotion chances. Possibly the summer if we don't get promoted but if he'd bagged 20 goals it would need to be for a very good price considering there's a fair bit of his contract to run.
Yep I’d agree. Often time footballers see the money and make their move though. Can’t really blame them I guess.
I would guess that some footballers will be waiting to see how the owners handle January too. If we look like were intent on promotion and building, they’d be short sighted to jump off the gravy train of success. However if it’s a case of bringing in kids to make money from, they’ll consider if it’s their stop to get off with more money/bigger club.
In last weeks Chronicle it said that every player has a price and if a realistic offer was made for any of our squad it would have to be considered. However the difference this time round is that before " anyone" is sold, a quality replacement would be identified and signed. I personally hope that apart from any player who won't sign a new contract, we don't sell anyone in January . I see Sheffield United are poised to offer Southampton a deal to sign Sean Long. I hope we were able to take a leaf out of their book and bring an additional quality striker in to bolster our hopes of automatic promotion.
