Big club or not that’s unbelievable for 3rd tier football Only Wednesday v United many moons ago beats that attendance for the same league
They don't have much competition up there and they will keep a good fan base for a few years even if they went non-league.
Was that when they used to guess the gates? Sky sports saying its a league 1 record, maybe its league 1 and not a third tier record.
Let's hand it to them, that is immense support. It is a football town through & through. Hope we finish above them though.
I reckon they will spend well in the Jan Window, and eventually run out league leaders with Portsmouth in second place, those two sides can command the bigger support purely because of their catchment areas.
It's all a bit cotton eyed Joe. Where do they come from? Where do they go? http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/sund.htm
True that, it's about 20 odd ish mile from pompey to Southampton, 50 miles from here to Bournemouth and over 60 to brighton, to the north the nearest team is about 70 mile, from pompey to Southampton we probably have half a dozen teams within a 20 mile radius
You could say the same of us, at a much lower level. We are very well supported club & in their current plight, it is an unbelievable crowd, as the OP says
same with Sunderland... the two nearest are Newcastle and Middleborough. They will always get a good fan base. If they carry on getting attendances like that... even half that then they will be able to afford to buy and still be inside the farcical FFP rules.
