...5 bookings for Barnsley players with probably only 2 justified. Very weak referee which turned relaxed viewing into 'Squeaky bum' time!
Great 3 points. Absolutely back in the automatic race. Wish I didn't live in the South of England working shitty hours. Yooou Red's!
Their goal from nothing.....Their lad goes down (as expected) ref buys it....goal. Charlton deserved nothing.....and got nothing.
It wasn't 'relaxed viewing' all second half. ..... We were tosh 2nd half and Charlton dominated play. We deserved to win but made real hard work of it.
"We were tosh 2nd half "!!!! ????? Really?? What match were you watching? Until the ref started giving dodgy one way decisions in favour of Charlton and they scored from a free kick that wasn't we were under no pressure (nor was Davies)
Obviously not the same game as you. Take a look at the stats, we huffed and puffed against a depleted Charlton team. We really should have had them buried by half time... .. .a great win considering how we handed them the initiative.
We weren't so good second half, as you seem to be admitting. "Tosh" is a bit strong though, given that we still had better chances than them in the second half. I seem to remember, year after year, more games at home where when winning by the odd goal we "hang on", than games where we don't. It's the Barnsley way.
I use the word 'tosh' as a bit 'ahem' considering our first half hours total dominance, I thought we were rather tosh for the remainder of the game.
We were outstanding in the first half and went into stand by mode in the second. Never thought we would ever miss Bahre after subbing but we did this afternoon. Charlton wouldn’t have scored if the game had on until six o’clock without that ‘free’ kick Tuesday night massive now if it wasn’t before
We were the only team that deserved points today, but we can play much better. 15 minutes of quality and then with injury time in both halfs around 85 minutes of struggle. At two up we should have kept playing the same way and been out of sight. Instead we seemed to go into our shell and the game and our performance went flat. It looked like we were going to hand out a hiding, but we struggled to create our usual amount of chances once we had gone two up. We seemed to take our foot off the gas with one eye on Luton and then because we conceded it ended up far more nervy than it should have been.
I thought they only dominated after their goal, we just went into holding on mode as per the last 25 years I've watched us. Even in the 2nd half we had the only clear cut chances.
