Very unique isn't it! Great old fashioned ground is Kenilworth Road and I imagine it helps their home form hugely. Decent atmosphere too usually.
Highbury used to have something similar with turnstiles in amongst house fronts. Makes you wonder if you are going to be watching the match in Mrs Bloggins's back garden.
I definitely wouldn't use the word 'great' ST. It's the worst ground I've been to in years (possibly including Altrincham). The amount of legroom for each seat made it virtually impossible for anyone over 5'6" to sit down, the toilets were a disgrace, getting some snap at HT impossible and the fire-escape like exit is a disaster waiting to happen. I know they're planning to move to a new ground - they bloody well need to!
I didn't actually see any facilities for food/beverage come to think of it. The toilets weren't that bad though, as each exit had some - maybe I just went at quiet times. The leg room though was shocking. I intentionally went to back row so I could stand up.
Leicester's old ground at Filbert Street used to have entrances between and underneath domestic houses on at least one side of it.
The Mrs and I went a good few years back. After driving round the streets in a fruitless search for somewhere to park, I gave in and parked in the matchday official car park. It was the smallest one I'd ever seen at a ground. Then security came over and turfed us out, pointing out that an adjacent bush had overgrown part of the sign and we were actually in the matchday officials' car park! There is no car park for the fans!
I hadn't been to Luton since the early 90s, so it felt like a new ground, although it hasn't changed a bit, apart from maybe it was terrace last time I went?
Back in th 70’s part of Grove St car park was on the verge of being sold to Asda but I think planning permission was refused
