Some people hate Davies. He can make some cracking saves and nothings said, yet let him kick the ball out of play and he's the antichrist. I don't even think some people's opinion of him are their own. They just repeat what they hear others say, parrot fashion.
Honestly don’t think we could get much better in all honesty. I bet whatever keeper you stick in would still get grief for one thing or another. I think Davies will be looked upon much more favourably in the future and another keeper is being berated for one thing or another. Just reminds me of the stick Luke Steele used to get tbh.
I know its not necessarily aimed at myself but for me 'to hate' a footballer must mean I have a deficiency elsewhere in my life as going to watch the reds is a hobby. Whoever we play team-wise gets my support as its counter productive to hurl dogs abuse at someone having a bad day at the office (Is just unfortunate they go about there work in the public eye and unfortunately for them are open to criticism. In my desk based job I have never had someone calling me a fat b&s£!rd because the staple isnt at the right angle at the top of the sheet). My points though are perfectly valid and can be substantiated, I have also acknowledged the fact he is a good shotstopper (The save against Doncaster as an example). I've never been the sort to wish ill on someone or urge them to make a mistake that costs the team so I can say 'I told you so'. If we were to say the areas we need to address as a team at present are the full backs and the GK.
Agreed. Has made some cracking saves this season. So what if his distribution or positioning aren't up to the same standard? If he was perfect he'd be off.
We aren't a league above- we did struggle last year because the players weren't good enough. Davies was quite rightly slated but as a team we defended very poorly. I disagree I don't think he's average at this level - he's a good keeper at this level but struggles higher up.
That statement is quite contradictory - so we ultimately get a substandard level of player so we can keep onto them for longer? Thats approximately 40-50% of his game just dismissed Thats like saying that we have a player upfront who can hit a ball cleanly and at a pace but is generally in the wrong place and cant score, but if he did do some of those things alot better then everyone would want him so we'd better stick with him! This club is about developing players now and on the basis of Davies playing nearly 200 games for us and not being any better is down to 2 things - his ability in general and/or the coaching he is receiving Obviously dredging up old threads but we let several players walk in the summer who had more ability in their respective positions and got nowhere near the amount of game time to prove their ability I would get Mark Crossley back in in some capacity
3 out of 10. THREE. Not counting whether he should be captain or not, you think his goal keeping ability is a 3. Later on you say he is average, 3 out of 10 is not average.
It's not contradictory at all, and your percentages are all wrong. Davies might kick the ball out of play twice a game, or he may not come off his line once in 2 or 3 games. My whole point is that he's good enough for this level, even if he's not perfect.
All things considered yes, do you prefer if I say poor-average? I would be intrigued as to the level/rating you would give him based on the pool of GKs in football
his distribution is poor. he doesnt come off his line effectively and is too hesitant, he cant command his area. Simply put he is not good enough to hold down a regular place let alone be captain. I have watched his performances long enough to form a sound judgement. As for the captains armband , it has been a wedding bouquet style over the shoulder number for about 3 seasons now
This is hilarious, I presume you’d give Kieffer a 0.5 out of 10 for his ability as a striker then as Messi he ain’t. I’d love to know your ratings for the whole team based on the pool of players for every position in football.
I would love a day in your world then as I am a realist! If you are talking division then thats a different gravy. You should be an MP as you have answered a question with a question
I'm sorry mate. Just because you've seen him a lot doesn't make you right or wrong. I go to every game, home and away but I'm not saying that makes my opinion superior. I just find it strange you pulling him down after we've just gone 5 unbeaten with 3 clean sheets. In fact we've only lost 5 all season!
Who were you before you changed your nickname? I'm getting a feeling you've been here before as someone else.
Like I said at the start of it - football is about opinions and as long as you think they are justifiable then whats the harm - I dont castigate any of the players on the day - yes I will have a chunter like most fans and then go to the pub afterwards with the ankle biter for a game of pool! Yes he has got better this season BUT he needs to improve helluva lot more because I personally feel he has played better in the reds shirt and doesnt seem to learn from mistakes which is frustrating as a fan. I've never been under any other name on here, but in all honesty I will probably stick to reading it in the future.
Your smelling the wrong rat! I dont really see how a rat can be smelt on someone posting on a forum! I wouldnt know where to start. Very strange!
