One way of looking at it (if we REALLY have to ) is this. If we have to lose at least one of our regular players then Brad Potts would be the one I would feel least sad about leaving. He's a good player, no doubt, and has scored some cracking goals for us. He's strong and has pace but this kind of player is not irreplaceable. We would hopefully get a substantial fee for him because I'm sure Blackpool will have a sell on clause on him. Of course, if this does happen, the Blackpool fans will be in meltdown because more money will be going to their hated owners.
Don't expect him to go unless it's silly money.. If he did, for me £4 million plus and he goes with goodwill providing every single penny is invested back into the team. Is he worth 4 million, no is the answer however in this time of inflated prices for players, no reason why we shouldn't demand that. So hope the board stick to their guns under the new ownership and ask for silly money. 1 player is replaceable. It's rebuilding virtually a full squad that can't happen again.
If true whatever fee is involved there is no need to sell now because he will command same fee in summer if we don't go up but if we do go up they should double his brass.
We paid £1m for Potts in the first place and he ain’t going anywhere for a miserable 50% mark up when there is still 18 months left on is contract ( plus an option for us to extend?) Next time Pottsie kicks a ball in the championship it will be for the mighty Reds!

And yet Potts has also been at Oakwell all day today - who to believe ? There has been some rubbish posted in this thread - a lot based on how we operated under the previous ownership. Clearly every player has a value and we would sell Potts if our estimate of his worth is exceeded by a bid from Preston ( or anyone else) but I think I will wait until we have more than a rumour from the ever unreliable Nixon before I panic. We do have too many players in our Midfield squad so I can see us trying to move one or two along but Potts is a regular starter with a long contract - I dont see why we would sell him for anything less than top dollar -now if you want Moncur - thats a totally different matter
I’ve just been told it’s a undisclosed fee, we’ll not know how much they’ve offered until it lands in the bank, and that we’ve accepted it, I laughed, and then thought erm I wonder if he’s joking.
Good of you to only use part of the quote... That says to me that we had a valuation of him and they matched it. Nixon said it was big money and we didn't want to sell unless they met it...sounds like that happened.
Where has this £1.5 million figure come from. It's hardly big money. If £1.5 million is securing the clubs long term future. I'd say we're in the ****. Kinda makes me think he's gone for substantially more. As for those panicking about a sub standard player or loanee coming in. The short term signing might be a player that just costs less. Doesn't necessarily mean a loan.
