Anyone would think we have sold a World beater and announced we won't be replacing him. Potts is OK but until we see what we get in to replace him I cannot understand posts like one on this thread that says" the new owners can **** right off!!" Same negative mentality as those thinking the Sky will fall in because we voted to Brexit when in truth, no-one knows what will happen over the next year, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years regarding the fortunesof Bransley FC or the UK or even the EU. Jeez!!
Agree, the deal makes perfect sense. Potts isn’t going to get any better so there’s no real potential in him, we are cashing in at the right time and making a profit.
There's only one thing I'm finding depressing: selling effective players during a promotion campaign.
You were doing alright until you compared it with Brexit. Absolutely no comparison to be made. Any sale would’ve had differing opinions. The opinions I’ve read are quite varied not simply should not have sold or not and to keep him. So not simply Remain or Leave as in Brexit. Suppose you couldn’t just resist the dig, speaks volumes really.
Absolutely not "shoehorned". It is a perfect example of the negativity displayed by many on this board and mirrors exactly their same views of BFC management/owners aspirations. It demonstrates an obvious fact that a fair number on here spend half their waking hours hand wringing on what might, could, may happen, instead of getting on with life in the here and now.
In the thirty odd years I've been supporting the Club, we have always had the reputation as a selling Club. Then during the run up to any new Season, to aid Season ticket sales rumours of " big" players we were going to sign for us used to circulate, only for our hopes to be dashed. I honestly thought that this Board would somehow resist the temptation to sell our best assets, but how wrong can one be.? At their introductory take over conference Paul Conway said they were not going to " do anything crazy". Let's hope they will contradict that statement by signing a suitable replacement for Potts. We are on the cusp of having a side probably capable of gaining promotion, so it will be extremely disappointing if we sell any of our other assets and fail to replace them or young Pottsy.
No you compared the negativity to Remainers, thus trying a little point scoring for you as a Brexiteer. I am a remainer and don’t necessarily view the Potts deal as negative ( not yet anyway) So you can shove that theory where the sun doesn’t shine
You're absolutely right. What also annoys me is these scientists wibbling on about climate change and what could, may happen, instead of getting on with life in the here and now. How dare people be concerned about the future. *******.
Climate change is a big problem. It is very short sighted not to plan for the future and just worry about the here and now.
NO I DID NOT at least that was not the point I was trying to make! It was a reference about people being depressed and moaning about a future outcome which they cannot possibly know given lack of sufficient information, or a time machine. THAT is the parallel I was making and not trying to points score.
But you used Brexit, a drum that you have often beat on here. Also, as Previously said, all comments weren’t exclusively should sell/ shouldn’t sell, there have been more variants on this.
If you had a granddaughter with a chronic medical condition, for which 99% of her medication is sourced from Europe, you might have a slightly less cavalier attitude. And before you say everything will be OK, please remember that you've already stated that nobody actually knows.
He is one of 5 key players & we were told we were going for automatic promotion. I rarely make negative posts, but I think I'm entitled to feel cheated.
