I don't think Hedges is quite ready to be a straight replacement for Potts and today's team selection in my opinion didn't include our top two players in Moore and Dougall, who should be Potts replacement? . It seems like Thiam is now a world beater, Bahre the new Messi and Mcgheehan is a colossus in midfield, there is a chance Potts would have been dropped anyway to get Dougall or Moore back in the starting 11.
    What's your thoughts

Hedges anonymous today. See also MSB and Woodrow to a degree. Pleasing that despite those 3 missing for most of the game, we still looked good against PL opposition. Mowatt MOM by a the longest of country miles.

You'll probably get your wish. Players aren't always replaced on planet Oakwell.

Hedges is no ready made replacement for Potts. Proper replacement needed before the Bradford game.

Thought Mowatt had a very good game today but my MoM was McGeehan. He won headers, distributed the ball well and blocked two goal-bound efforts, as well as putting the ball in the net, albeit off side.
I hope we can sign someone who offers more than Potts did.

I am encouraged by the comment attributed to Conway today. If you think about it, we didn't sell Bradshaw until we had the Woodrow deal tied up, although there was a short time-lag (about a day?). We have had a cup weekend this weekend, but I will trust Conway that, if he says there are new signings on the way, as with Woodrow, they will represent a strengthening of the side for the promotion push. It's not comfortable waiting for this to happen, but I would expect something next week and before the Bradford game. If a couple of players come in as replacement for the one departed, that could strengthen us. We won't know until the deals are announced. I think that the board will have learned from the past and will be looking all the time at succession planning in the key positions. We are going to have to get used to the idea that players who develop well with us and bring the club good offers are likely to move on. This is the game which Bean has played so successfully - it's a development of the ;Moneyball' concept in the inclusion of the statements which say that 'we will retain a financial interest in the future development of the player.' if the concept thrives, we will lose good players, but will have the resources to replace them more than once over. We need to hear the news of incoming signings soon.

I'm not a negative person but every time I've seen Hedges play this season
I've been a tad disappointed. He could well improve, but. I have a feeling we
will get rid of him, Isgrove and probably Moncur before he is able to show us
    consistent potential.

With the emergence of Mcgheehan, Thiam, Bahre and Moore and Dougall to come back in to the team I think Potts would have been the one to drop out anyway, we still have Moncur, Brown, Hedges as capable cover for a player as I said that would have been on the bench.
I think we should strengthen the team as a whole not just a replacement for Potts which would be a striker, a proper winger Potts wasn't , a full back and a goalkeeper and if anyone of those new signings could get in above what we have there now then that would be a strong league 1 team.

I’m happy with the defence we have, think we definitely need a new keeper to push Davies more, it happened with Luke Steele, he didn’t have decent competition for the number 1 spot.

New striker to push Woodrow and Moore, someone we can bring on later in games too.

It was one game. A cup match where we had Dougal and Moore sat on the bench.

I doubt very much that Stendels thinking includes making a injury prone fringe player into Potts direct replacement.

They were both immense, though Mowatt just shaded it for me. McGeehan is finally starting to look like the player we thought we'd signed from Luton. I think that there's a very lot more to come from him.

I can't see Mcgheehan being left out of the team now and who would have dropped out for Potts, I m sure we will have to change from 442 now as Bahre is better when not playing on the wing and Thiam better coming from a left side of a front 3.

I go for same back 4 Dougall Mcgheehan Mowatt midfield with front 3 of Thiam Moore Woodrow with Bahre, Moncur Brown Vic, Jackson and Hedges as subs Fryers 2 williams Bird struggling to make the bench.

Like I said earlier 433 with Pottsy on the bench.

I think we are all in agreement that hedges is not Potts like for like replacement and it was a strange decision from Stendel to start him yesterday. Hedges has potential but I don't think he is ready but Stendel may see something different in training.

Absolutely garbage players don’t score goals like Thiam did against Luton and Charlton.
