Should be interesting tonight. David Dimbleby quit after hosting the programme for 25 years and the new host Fiona Bruce fronts the programme for the first time this evening. She has stated that she is extremely nervous as to how she will be recieved. Her guests include Emily Thornberry ( Labour), James Cleverley ( Conservative), Jo Swinson ( Liberal Democrat), Journalist Melanie Phillips ( ex- contributor Guardian and New Statesman) and Comedian Nish Kumar. Should be quite lively. The programme is on BBC One at 22-35 GMT.
Don't mind Nish Kumar. He's at Huddersfield Town Hall in March. She's supposedly getting same money as Dimbleby for hosting which isn't a shock as BBC love ticking boxes.
Why do you say that? Admittedly she is crypt like morbid. And probably has never smiled. Why is she unpleasant?
Unpleasant rabid right wing views , condescending know it all , they wheel her out when they want controversy, a pseudo intellectual Katie Hopkins
Can't stand the programme, I often have to restrain myself from chucking the television through the window whenever its on.
Nothing as long as they dont talk about palestine or anyone that in any way way is critical of Isreal.
Melanie Phillips is just vile. There are only a handful who fall into the box of people who must have been spawned from pure satanic ritual and she's one of them. Isabel Oakeshott is not far behind her and theres a guy, but his name escapes me for the moment. I often feel glad i'm on the opposite side of every opinion they hold, but it staggers me that not only there are people that have these views, but also they are being vocalised to a decent sized audience who can hear them. As for Fiona Bruce. She has a very tough gig to follow Dimbleby. I'm not sure she's the right fit and if she is going to be, she has a very steep learning curve. I thought the panel were quite subdued considering who was on it and probably mindful it was her debut. She didn't project her voice well enough and she talked way too much. And perhaps the worst aspect was that she allowed Emily Thornberry and James Cleverly to dominate the air time. The positive is that a female chair may cut out some of the worst haranguing and talking over others which has taken over since Brexit, especially from male panel members, but that's not a direct result of her skills and character, but merely just her gender. I wish her well and I suspect it will take her time to get to grips with it, but on her first performance... sadly I thought it was pretty poor.
anyone from the BBC was guilty of that, the worst one out of the lot was Judith Stamper (think that was her surname) on look north, she was a horrible cow did anyone watch 'This Week' after question time,Andrew Neil and Owen Jones had a right ding dong.
She seems to have been afforded some very favourable reviews. Must be pleased with her first effort as host, as love him or loathe him Dimbleby was on the whole very popular and did a good job.
