    Don't care ether way.. but the one good thing that must come out of this, must surely be.

    That it should stop his pseudo celebrity mother dragging her wrinkled old ar5e onto our tv screens..

    Why should she bother you, switch over, I can’t say she’s on tv that much anyway

    congratulations to a great sportsman however, 2 time Olympic champion and 3 times a grand slam winner.

    Unnecessarily cruel, but that's the internet for you. I'll be sad to see him go. I've always been a big tennis fan, but couldn't bring myself to support any of the over-privileged, under performing Brits that came before him. It will be strange watching the slams and not caring who wins and loses.

    Makes you dispair - we have a rarity in a true world class sportsman whos career is being cut short by injury and some people are glad he is retiring - I guess they would rather moan at our not so good athletes than have to put up with someone who actually wins something. Especially as he seems a decent bloke who its hard to criticise for his off court activities - hey but lets have a go at his mum who is a top class tennis coach in her own right and again seems a decent person who the tabloids cant find anything to be scandalised over - sorry they are both uninteresting ( translation decent people - unlike the likes of Messers Rooney and Gascoigne etc)

    Well grounded, decent bloke who has consistently performed at the top level.

    Arguably very unlucky that his career has coincided with those of Federer, Djokovic and Nadal; as in other time periods, past and even in the immediate future looking at what is around, he’d have won more than three grand slams.

    That is subjective and arguable, but what isn’t is that he’s been tremendously unlucky with injuries and to have retirement thrust at him is cruel. He’d have liked to have made the choice on his terms.

    Yes he’s got money, we’d all like even 10% of his bank balance, but that doesn’t force him to be happy.

    He’s an emotional bloke, that’s been shown over the years. Nowt wrong with that, bottled up emotions can and do lead to serious issues.

    Some very short sighted views on this forum sometimes.

    I don't think he upset because he can't earn more money. It's the fact he can no longer do the thing he loves that he has done all his life. Ended sooner than he ever expected, I'm sure in time he will look back fondly on a amazing career.
    I would also suspect he would be willing to play for free if it ment he could play on.

    One of my favourite sportsmen. Down to earth bloke who wears his heart on his sleeve, not a media trained puppet, not interested in fame or designer clothes or daft haircuts just grafted away year after year until he could win the biggest prizes in probably the greatest era of the sport.

    He’ll go down as the 4th best of his era but 4th in the world is one hell of an achievement in any sport, if you compare it to football how many footballers have we had who could say that? Not many in my life time, Owen & Rooney maybe in their breakout seasons but not after that. Gerrard & Scholes had a few great years but that high? Probably not. Some achievement to be that good for so many years

    What a shame for the lad. Been a great ambassador for both the sport of tennis and the UK.
    Hope he gets the hip pain element sorted out. Speaking as someone who has
    suffered similar before my hip operation, it really is debilitating. He will never ever have to
    to worry about brass. One thing I like about the lad is he is attempting to help the community
    in which he was reared. He's given job opportunities for the folks of Dunblane at his Cromlix
    Hotel. Well worth a stop over if you are on holiday in Scotland. Talking of holidays, if we have
    a nice Summer in 2019 and you and your family are going to stay in the U.K. you could do
    far worse than check out the Bay at Filey. We stayed there for three nights in November.
    We took my son, his wife and our grandkids plus our Lhasa Apso dog and it was great.
    It's in the next complex to Primrose Valley and is on the site that used to be Butlins Holiday
    Camp. We've now booked four night in May for my wife, myself and our dog. Because we'd been in November
    they knocked £50 off. Total cost for a dog friendly two bed Cottage is £280 which is not bad.
    The complex has a beach, swimming pool, archery, five a side, a Coffee House and a pub the John Paul Jones,
    that serves some really tasty dishes and has a good choice of beers and lagers. Really looking forward to going
    back.

    First UK winner of Wimbledon since the great Fred Perry. Wonder if he will end up with a statue
    near to the Centre Court.

    His Mother has dedicated herself to furthering the game of tennis. If people are
    prepared to offer her money to appear on their show, who can blame her for
    accepting it.?
