Is it your first caddy pal? Watch the injectors on the 1.6, the VW immisions thing ****** them up and they're prone to going. You can argue with vw to cover the cost and 9 times out of 10 you'll win.

Yeah they're quite punchy pal. On a economy remap you'll get 128bhp or the performance map will go to around 151bhp. Go for performance pal as the economy doesn't really save you much more than the performance.

Just returning to this thread because I ended up having the van remapped.

I hadn't planned to, but the engine management light had been coming on and it was going into limp mode.

Diagnostic showed faulty EGR valve, so it was either replace that or remap the ECU to delete it, which was the cheaper option.

Certainly feels a lot more responsive, but we'll see what gains are he MPG over time.

By faulty egr valve did that mean clogged and gummed up egr?
Were you getting black smoke from the exhaust on heavy acceleration?
Apparently you can remove the egr valve and put a blanking plate over the opening but then the engine has to be reset to eliminate the signal to the ecu .
I'd love to get my Astra egr cleaned out, I'd do it myself, but looking at where it is means taking out so many bits and pieces I'd be worried about cocking it up.

Yeah, could have been stuck open or shut.

I'd not noticed any black smoke, but the revs were a bit high on idle. I'd also started to question the fuel consumption. Other than that, just the warning light and going into limp, which had just started over the last week or so.
