David Wagner has left as Manager of Huddersfield Town by mutual consent. Dean Hoyle the Chair has stressed he has not been sacked but he was told that David was feeling the intense pressure, so even though he said he would go at the end of the Season, they mutually agreed he should go now.
Ok I'll take the bait and start some ********....... Stendel to leave for Nice and Wagner to Barnsley. OK?
Mistake IMO. Brilliant manager and if/when they come down they'll wish he was there to make a go of going back up.
He wasn't sacked so it can't really be classed as a mistake, not by Huddersfield at least. It sounds like he made his mind up to leave and the club didn't stand in his way. Hoyle is saying there was no way he would have been sacked this season.
Good to see that one Chairman has some empathy for his Manager. Wagner is concerned his health might suffer, so he's done the right thing in asking to go. He will not be short of offers once he's recharged his batteries. https://africa.cgtn.com/2019/01/14/...gner-quits-after-string-of-poor-performances/
He avoided the chance to work under their current director of football I think it is, a few years ago at Wolfsburg. He wants his own players not this guy he didn't like as it is passing players to him. He'd earned the right to bring in who he and only he wanted. If he can't see it changing in this crucial month he's done the right thing asking to go and is a gentleman for putting the club first by avoiding a pay off.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44180289 That's the guy Wagner apparently doesn't get on with. In charge of bringing in players that the person coaching them doesn't always want. If he's not looking like getting his preferred targets this month then it's no surprise he's thought to leave. I don't think he was sacked but I don't buy the break from football line and expect it to be showed up when he's back in charge somewhere by the start of next season.
A town fan in our office called this situation recently. Said Wagner's had a massive bust up with this Olaf fella over this January's transfer targets and can't work with him anymore. Wagner was left very frustrated last summer when none of the players he put forward as possible targets were brought in. I expect Wagner to be in a new role somewhere before the end of this season.
