Monaco finished as Runners up to PSG in Ligue One in 2017/18. They then sacked their Manager and appointed former player Thierry Henry. They are currently second bottom, two points from safety. They have now suspended Henry pending a decision around his future. Yet another case of all that glitters is not gold.!!??
To be fair he's been there 3 months. And they were already doing very poorly prior to Henry taking over. He's also struggled to have enough players at his disposal to put a match day squad together. I'm not saying Henry shouldn't take some of the blame but they seem to have bigger issues throughout the club.
They're a very unique and quite barmy club AS Monaco. Their average attendance is less than ours, around 8,500 last season, with few actually living in Monaco itself. Their ability to attract very talented players gives the club a wider fan base across France and they'll always be able to challenge for honours whilst ever the tax rules and attractions of living there continue to draw in footballers, but they'll need to be continually bank-rolled. Appointing Henry seemed a nostalgic choice, especially daft given they sacked the previous manager who'd done really well there recently.
Announcement now been made. They've given him the " tin tack". Early signs are that the Manager they sacked three months ago ( Leonardo Jardim) to accommodate Henry , probably going to be invited to take over again.! What a ball of chalk.
