Not really because Nice are a bigger club, it's in his home country and he's ambitious. I really don't think there is any club bias going on, it's just a business decision that makes sense to me. Their intentions will be revealed more by the next CEO we appoint.
He'd get an even more splendid Oakwell obituary if he was able to take the plaudits for the pleasing signings promised to the East Dene lads. From me anyway. Come on GG!!
He hasn't left really. OGC Nice have same owners. They all **** in same pot. We'll no doubt end up with another yes man. Different clubs same packaging.
**** sandwich: "Something highly undesirable made triflingly more palatable by attempting to surround it with more tolerable thing" (not my text colour or underlinings). Bread tomorrow then!!
The reason it was announced at this time(although they announced it last week he was to be unveiled today) There was a meeting of all shareholders at Nice today it didn't start till 6pm and details are just starting to leak out. The meeting was for the official resignations of the CEO and also for the General manager . Unveiling of new CEO and to discuss a offer that has been formally made to buy the club. A sale price has been set by the shareholders and they have given permission for the accounts to be inspected. anybody who has been looking in the french newspapers this week the back and forth between Paul Conway and the Nice CEO was like something you see on a football supporters forum. one does a interview then other fires back, like two school kids having a go at each other. One of the worrying things for me is The French CEO says one of there main promises when buying the club ,which none have been forth coming according to him. Was the sponsorship issue, they promised to bring US and Chinese sponsorship deals to Nice ,he said he is still waiting for those deals they started the season playing first few games with no shirt sponsor and he said had to go back and ask the old sponsor for help. if they cant bring sponsorship to a champions league club wheres ours going to come from.
Nice are a champions league chasing club. We never have been. Where do you think Ganaye's ambition would have taken him? Do you actually think they're planning to feed players from the english third tier into a team playing European football? Much as I like Kieffer Moore he ain't going to be replacing Balotelli. When we've given Nice a player on the cheap you can come back and tell me you're right. They've bought us for exactly the same reason they bought Nice. To make money. They really don't care which club makes most.
It has to be said that there is a distinct lack of stability down on the Cote D'Azur, which does not inspire confidence on the Dearne Riviera.
I think he was brought into Barnsley due to his links with our new owners prior to them completing the deal to buy BFC.
This rumour has been completely denied numerous times, both by Patrick, GG and Conway. Doesn't mean it isn't true, but they all said his appointment as our CEO was completely independent of the sale of the club.
Hmm, wonder if we've received "substantial compensation" via an "undisclosed fee" and "retained an interest in his future" or its just a shifty inter-company transfer?
Lets put it this way, judging by the tone of the replies he and their official club announcement are getting, we could be the owners sole focus and have GG back within six months cos the French really aren't happy.
Perhaps the owners see It as GG has sorted the mess Barnsley was in and is not the right person to take it to the next level(whatever that is), but is brilliant at sorting messes out?
Interesting, could that mean him going and Conway standing is temporary until the Club is sold, of course they wouldn’t announce that but is feasible?
Lets not be daft and kid ourselves here, Nice are a bigger club then us and in the eyes of every sane person this is a good move for Ganaye.
