There are a few threads about players , staff leaving ,fans complaining about it. But let’s take a minute and look at in from the other direction ,there point of view If we get promoted , we will be odds on to come back down and probably will. Daniel Stendel If we get promoted the moment the whistle blows he should be looking for a way out. His stock will be at its highest. If We go up we will sell players the owners have already stated here and at Nice that is there intentions. If he stays and we get relegated he will get the sack virtually 100 % certain. He may never work again or be out of football a long time , he should do everything in his power to get a move to a more stable , prosperous, ambitious club. If he doesn’t he’s a idiot ,end off. I presume Hecky left for those very reasons He heard the plan knew it would only end one way ,If he had stayed and and we were relegated he would have been sacked , Barnsley lad or not. It didn’t work out for him but he did the right thing. Our CEO and assistant have left last few days if we are aiming for the premier as we are told and they believed that ? Why would they leave Most of the players and managers who play/ manage in England are from other country’s Saying oh he’s from France so obviously wants to go home. Players: just the same reasons, promoted or doing well ,do everything in your power to leave You would have to be a complete idiot not to. Unless you are not wanted by any other club leave The whole problem everybody knows this . managers and players ,CEO whoever want to be at the highest level for the longest time possible for themselves ,there ambitions ,short careers and also for the economic reasons . No manager of any standing will come to Barnsley The only ones who will come are ones that are not wanted , been out of work a long time and are prepared to risk coming here for a way back in And then to leapfrog first chance they get. Players the only ones who will come here are lower league players , who are looking for a way out And will leave at the first opportunity Nobody will come from equivalent clubs You will never get people to stay when the club is seen to have no ambition apart from surviving. There is nothing wrong with that , but from there point of view , it’s the last club you want to be/stay at Why would you stay by the time it takes players to settle in , the teams ,staff are broken up again and it’s back to the beginning How can it work it doesn’t The Manager , the CEO , the general manager have all handed in there notices at Nice inside 6 months Players Manager staff simply won’t put up with it and will go elsewhere. We hear Talk of a 5 year 10 year plan Thats a footballers whole career The average managers career at a club is about 18 months Are they going to give players and managers 10 year contracts ? I think not.
Think you'll find that applies to every team in the football league, regardless of their transfer policy. You might as well have written a thread about bears doing their business in the woods.
I was wondering that as well. Not really much point following little teams like Barnsley is there? I think I’ll give up on them today. Can’t even beat the likes of Oxford. Pfffftt I’m done. 55 seasons are enough
TBF to the OP as much as I ate saying it is just about on the nail with many points, that's the reality of modern day football/ a club like ourselves and the money thrown at players further up the pyramid
Woodrow signed from the Prem. Moore from the Champ. Davies from the Champ. Mowatt from Champ. Fryers from Prem. Isgrove from Prem. Jacko from Prem. I could go on. Absolute fantasy that we only sign from lower leagues. And where they come from doesn’t necessarily mean a thing, because some of the above haven’t fared any better than some of the lower league signings. We are 47th of 92 league clubs. So about halfway down the food chain. I’m sure folk forget who they support.
Stendel should go the first chance he’s got. All that will happen is we’ll probably have a decent first season & then sell most of the team as they’ll be at their maximum re-sale value & then it’s back to square one gelling a completely new team full of kids.
Some of the best post-war drivel we've had on hear for a long time. Probably best if you give the Samaritans a bell.
Managers and head coaches have a shelf life. Unless they change things round the team stagnates. Even the best teams get freshened up by the best coaches. If you rest on your laurels eventually you fail. Even under Stendel, there is a likelihood of player changes people might not see eye to eye with. Bahre for Moncur for instance. Regardless of whether you select the players yourself or if they're from a spreadsheet. The players will determine your future. At the minute things are good on the pitch so Stendel's stock will be high. If the results fall off a cliff his stock will drop. It's football. To say get out while you can though just because a couple of players have gone is silly. He might not of fancied any of these players.
So, what you're saying is no point supporting anything other than a top-end prem team. Gotcha, thanks.
Do you honestly believe if we went up the board wouldn’t spend hardly any money to keep us up. Of course there would after all there our businessmen that’s why there are billionaires.
So you think the owners are gonna make the club as poor and unappetising as possible to pocket the pittance this policy will generate? The owners will want the club to be as high profile as possible whist self sustaining and if they think we have a chance of top tier football will as all investors speculate to accumulate within reason. Which clubs give ten year contract? And even if they did what do they mean ? A contract in football is about as valid as a vote of confidence from the board to a manager. I think you’ve got your knickers in a twist tbh the owners will want to be as high up the food chain as possible imo to reap the bigger rewards .
