Have to agree. Superb adaptation and explained more of the story in a much more nuanced way than the music has chance to.

Seen the Musical in London and enjoyed it as I did the BBC's serialisation.

It answered a few .... well a lot of gap questions that the stage or film musical left open... I will now go watch the Film over again and perhaps with a better understanding ( I thought it was awesome when I watched )... I have yet to see it on stage but its coming to my area soon... if I can grab a couple of seats I will certainly do so.

It’s a fabulous story! Victor Hugo was the French version of Dickens. I don’t know if anyone realises but, when he wrote the Hunchback of Notre Dame, the cathedral was derelict! He used the money from the book to start the Renovation of the cathedral we see now!
It also made me chuckle to read a few weeks ago that there’d been complaints to the bbc for taking the songs out.

Must be twenty years since I saw it in the West End but I can still hear “Do you hear the people sing, this is a song of angry men” in my head. It’s as clear as if I saw it yesterday. The music, and the story, is inspiring.

I enjoyed the B.B.C. adaptation, I would however recommend reading the book. It is by far the best novel I have ever read.

I thought Les Miserables was a BBS production!

Definitely , especially if you like history. If you don't you can miss those bits out and still have the story. Thernadier is way darker than in the musical. . I only watched 1 episode last week but it looked good.
