Donny red got me thinking when he said in another thread that I must have seen many changes as I have been watching the reds 53 years.what changes or decisions do you think have been the most important.
Mine is the appointment of Alan Clarke as manager as he turned us from a club looking to survive in the fourth division of the football league,in front of 2-3 thousand crowds to a team that played great football. This in turn brought crowds and promotion which dragged the club out of the doldrums ( which were by the way a lot worse than struggling in the championship that people complain about). What’s yours?

Not getting promoted to the First Division after WW1, when the League decided to increase from 20 teams to 22. We finished 3rd, the season before the war, and our place was given to Arsenal after a (fixed) vote, a team which had finished 5th.

When the league restarted after World War I, the 1919–20 season brought some significant changes to the league. The principal difference was that the First Division would be increased from 20 teams to 22. The bottom team from the previous season was Tottenham Hotspur and they were duly relegated. The first extra place in the First Division went to Chelsea, who retained their place despite finishing 2nd bottom and therefore in the relegation places. Derby County and Preston North End were rightly promoted from the Second Division which left one place to be filled. Having finished the previous season's Second Division in 3rd place (1914–15), Barnsley expected to achieve First Division status for the first time, but The Football League instead chose to call a ballot of the clubs. Henry Norris, the then Arsenal chairman, had recently moved Woolwich Arsenal north of the River Thames to Highbury, and needed First Division football to attract fans to their new home. He was later to admit some underhand dealings, allegedly including the bribing of some member clubs to vote for Arsenal's inclusion. They duly won the vote and Barnsley were consigned to the second tier of English football for another 8 decades.

PC selling to Chinese billionaire Chien Lee and his consortium will be the biggest decision in our history and have the biggest affect on our club. Just not sure what that affect will be yet.

Although not our decision I think this is the greatest injustice of in our history.
Who knows how the years would have panned out had we rightly been given our place in the first division, after all Arsenal have never been relegated since .

This. Nothing else gets near it. But saying it was out of our control may not be true. Reports at the time that we were ‘compensated’ and accepted the ££.

Proof beyond doubt that the Powers that be have always been against Little Barnsley! No wonder we never get penalties! Thank goodness we’ll not get relegated this season! Seriously though, the injustice is mind blowing!
