Always remember a lad who sat behind goals with the goal keeper gloves on. Not sure if he still goes but he use to have radio Sheffield on telling me results all time. Not seen him in a couple of years. What a guy!

Talking of facilities. In the old brewery stand nearest the Ponty end there was along set of steps to the men's wall/toilet It was so long and steep, lots peed on the Ash mound about half way down near the stand foundations. Mind you the facilities behind old west stand toilets are still the same even now.

He had a ruddy face and kept his goalkeeper gloves in a JD Sports shoulder bag.
He was a real character. I've not seen him at the ground for ages.

Used to see him regularly at Oakwell but not for quite a while. Steve was a couple of years older than me but we used to play football together. He was one of the kids caned in the scene in Kes. I clearly remember him telling me at the time that they got 10 bob each for their pain.

I went to Kevs funeral then back to the Mount for his wake. There were loads of reds there some from "the old school" who I'd not seen for years. As for Fudge always remember he drank only Newcastle Brown. The last time I saw him was outside the Ashfield Club at Kendray where he had been knocked down on the main road.

Good to hear from you too Steve. Yes, it’s a pity about Ian. We saw him in the Number 7 a few months ago and my wife had to help him find his way out as he seems to be almost blind. Don’t know how or why he ended up like this although I think he messed around with various chemicals when he was in his late teens. Don’t hear much from Paul these days. Long story. I sit in East Stand Lower with my two sons and three grandkids. Be nice to catch up some time.

Remember Fudge from coach trips to away games in the late 70's-early 80's, as for Big Kev Nutting, I went with him and a lad from the supporters club called Steve, can't remember surname, schoolteacher and hippy lol, any we went to see Steve Hillage at Leeds uni, I bought a t shirt (small) which Kev immediately tried on, I was 9 1/2 stone, Kev must have been near on 20, chuffin t shirt never did fit me after that, great bloke...

The lad with the goalie gloves, Stretch was his nick name was one of the nicest, friendliest lads you would ever meet, and would give you the shirt off his back if he asked you(usually a goalie top with the reserve 'keepers name on). He loves the club, and back then was one of the most passionate Reds fans you would ever come across. Not sure if he goes anymore though.
