Just what the Germans want. . Divide and conquer... I remember when the wall came down and they unified Germany I was sat socialising with friends of numerous nationalities and we were talking openly about the subject.. When two German guys sat at the next table apologised for interrupting our conversation and said . In many ways this is a good thing, but unfortunately for the wrong reasons.
A United Germany is too powerful for the European economy, not only that, you will see a rise in far right ideology.
This unfortunately. will see an arrogant stance from those who have alternative agendas to which they place in the public domain. They continued we don't want to be ruled by a dictatorship anymore than most nationalities but given the chance, those in charge will follow the ideology that they live and breathe given the opportunity.
The fascist movement amongst many of our fellow Country men and woman is gaining popularity far too quickly, its gone underground for now... But I haste to add given enough power and time the threat of these people is very real.....
We are being fooled by those in power... Whilst I believe the common market /European concept is a good idea and if used correctly would benefit all... I for one hate the fact those in charge are elected without any input from a true democratic society and we the so called common folk are expected to roll over and be told what to do without the ability to question or vote.
    Yes I'm a leave voter

The majority of Labour constituencies voted in favour of Brexit. It isn't just a matter of considering the membership as remainers. The move is a smear by a bunch of neo-con Blairists against the labour party as institutionally racist in order to try and prevent a truly radical left-wing government. It will duly get a disproportionate amount of attention in the media.
It was predicted by Paul Mason back in July here (see point 8).

Can't believe what I'm listening to.! Angela Smith MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge
is on the Daily Politics. She has just said ,that the only way she retained her seat was
by giving her Constituents an assurance that Jeremy Corbyn will never be Prime Minister.
    Power pissed or what.???!!!!

One thing that really got my goat was listening to these slimy self-serving people preach about how they were going to listen to the people to form their new ideas instead of dictating them as a party. The Labour Party under Corbyn became the political party in Europe with the biggest membership.

Just watching angela Smith on politics show on bbc2. She said in 2017 she had to repeatedly assure voters they could vote for labour in the safe knowledge Corbyn wouldn't win. I'll confess I did the same thing but surprised to hear a labour candidate say this. Awkward question that her constituents voted leave 60/40 and she says politics is broken cos they dont do what the electorate want. Think all seven would have been de-selected anyway in 2022.

She should run in a by-election then, she would storm it...

How marginal is penistone? It could split the labour vote and let a Tory candidate in. I'm in Denby dale and that is highly marginal

I can't remember the figures but it's close. Yes I think a by-election would put the Tories in but she's said she not a turkey who's voting for christmas already

A convenient smear in itself, to smear people who don't believe this crazy Brexit approach from Corbyns Leninists.

I'll put forward a prediction myself. Labour will never form a single government in the UK, ever again.

From his point of view it isn't crazy. He is at odds with his party members but his MPs stood on a manifesto of delivering brexit and seats he would need to win at a ge voted leave aswell. Plus, I think he knows the only way he would get elected is if the country was in a bad way (much worse than now) to see a lurch from the centre

Its an old fashioned Leninist rule from the rubble strategy. It's fundamentally flawed in my view, but being pushed heavily by the thug in politicians clothing, John McDonnell, and the very scary and strange revisionist, yet finding himself in a position of pivotal power, Seamus Milne. What I find most concerning is the push to political purity being adopted. Shift left by all means, but don't bully and threaten the centrists who have voted Labour all their life. Yet that's whats happening. With tories being influenced by the brextremists and moving further right, there is a huge void in the middle. Pro EU supporters, centrists who don't see themselves shifting left to a Labour Brexit, or right to a Tory/ERG Brexit.

Corbyn cannot get elected. The maths have never added up, and as is being seen by the decline in membership numbers, what people think they were voting for last time, just wont be a reality. If Labour becomes more socialist purist, it dilutes its vote and becomes even more unelectable. It only has 255 seats (less 7 I'm guessing from the new resignations) and a long long way from a majority.

What is the crazy Brexit approach? He is not going against the referendum result and the majority of his constituents, but trying to retain the workers' rights and trade of the single market. What would you do if you were him that wasn't 'crazy'?

Where we are now is entirely the result of the supposed 'centre' ground in politics. Banks given free-reign under the Tories and then Blair before their utter failure which was bankrolled by a public state bailout and then ten years of austerity and wage-stagnation. It amazes me the capacity of people to take on the idea that Corbyn is a radical when he wants a return towards policies of labour governments of the not-so distant past, and an attempt to re-distribute wealth from tax-avoiding elites in a fairer manner.

The crazy Brexit approach is state you act in the interests of your members, yet when what the members want to be acted upon, that go against his personal views, he moves to deny the membership. You can't have it both ways.

Its to say you want to trigger article 50 the day after the referendum. Its to do so many miles allegedly campaigning to remain, but do it with so little gusto that its ineffective. Its to actively prevent effective campaigning by delaying communications, not signing off agreed content and wasting blocks set out on a campaign grid.

Its coming up with a Brexit list of 6 measures, that conflict, contradict and couldn't be delivered upon by any person or party. Its failing to come up with a sentient plan that makes an sense at all. And I could go on. But Labours brexit stance is utterly baffling, incoherent and will destroy the party. Fine, if that's what they want to do. But when we're standing in a pile of rubble and ash, one of the sympathisers to that destruction wont be entrusted to put new foundations in place.

It amazes me people are blind to the ironies he hands out every day. Constantly voted against his own party and government, then bullies and attacks anyone who dissents him now with his highly dubious friends in his thuggish propaganda wing.

He is pro Brexit. 48% and growing aren't. I think it was 88% (not completely sure of the exact figure) of labour members want to remain and hold a 2nd referendum. But it suits his want to allow the country to spectacularly crash and hope he doesn't get tainted by it. That's immoral at best.

That is correct and also when the right were in charge they offered us nothing but war and Austerity ,
When Blair was pushing for war the centre left MPs resigned cabinet posts and voted against Blair’s War which was the right thing to do as we now know in Hindsight.
Blair was left to rule with a handful of labour MPs and the whole Tory and DUP in unison with him.
But astonishingly it was deemed labours war wtf.

Non of them turned from the party but fought back from within . As soon as the right wing of the party (because these are not centrists in any way) are shouting bully from the rooftops and the media run towards them with first aid kits and blown up propaganda.
I personally will continue to fight against Brexit within my party but will abide by any democratic decisions made by this most Democratic Party

Definitely not short sighted thinking, or cutting off your nose to spite your face there. Much like Brexit, in fact.
