Same number of corners as us. 5 each. We put 11 men back for corners. Don’t like it cos it invariably means it’s coming straight back in. We defend it well so who am I to complain.
I can never understand why when teams play like burton did. ..., we never lump the ball forward directly on goal and then just crowd the keeper .. Law of averages says sooner or later mistakes get made and chances become available... Yes its not pretty but it is effective .. Anything coming from these attacks suddenly makes the other team change their tactics allowing us to revert to our game plan .... A simple plan B but an effective one if used correctly
^^ THIS ^^ (Except in a few years, Villa will be in league one) We've done enough defending like that in our time. Can't grumble when it's used against us.
I think Burton played well & deserved a point. They stopped us playing. It wasn't pretty, but they were playing a team in the automatic promotion positions away from home & got a valuable point. There was a fair bit of time wasting, but other than that we only have ourselves to blame in not coming up with a way to beat them. We kept a clean sheet & our unbeaten run intact though.
Bahre should have had us one up early doors with his 2 attempts and then he over hit an assist to Woodrow I think that fecked up another gilt edge opportunity. He either is given a free role by Stendell or just plays like a schoolboy chasing the ball all over the place. Must do better, off the bench for me when the game is won. As for parking the bus Tuesday was just like Wycombe away with oppos cramping up the space in their own haif, we are finding it difficult to break down and clubs are cottoning on to it.
