…….. is looking bigger and bigger. I hope Keiffer is back for that one - it gives the opposition more than one type of threat to think about. Beyond that though, I was just thinking this morning that our current situation is reminiscent of 1996-97, when we had points in the bag and Mr McGhee's Millwall were trying to chase us down!
Gosh, it was wasn't it! Big 6-0 and my memory's going! Funny thing is, I can hear the Radio 5 Live reporter now on the night Wolves were held to a draw by Grimsby prior to our last home game with Bradford: "Are you listening, Barnsley? !!!" Heady times!
The high flying Manager Mark McGee.? Now the Caretaker boss of National League South club Eastbourne Borough. Hasn't he done well.?
I've felt shades if that promotion year too this season. Wish we had redfearn and super Johnnie Hendrie though!
A considerable part of our success was definitely down to those two players, of that there's no doubt. I also believe that the almost telepathic understanding between Super John and Paul Wilkinson who had played together at Boro' ,was also a contributory factor. Always remember Super John's goal at Bramhall Lane in December which saw us go top of the league. Came away from that game with renewed optimism that we could actually be promoted.
