    Very sad news that. Classy midfield player in the first Reds Xl that I can remember as a kid. RIP Bobby.....

    Part of the side I first watched down at Oakwell. Always liked him and very sorry to hear of his untimely passing. Thanks for the memories Bobby.

    Oh, no. Bobby was an extremely skilful footballer at a time when, especially in the old Fourth Division, these players received absolutely no protection from the brutal tackling of talentless thugs.
    R.I.P. Bobby. You were a real talent & much appreciated at a time when it was particularly trying to be a Barnsley fan.

    Sad news. That's no age. Bobby was a real flair player in an age when (at our level) that was uncommon. RIP Bobby and condolences to family and friends.

    RIP Bobby.

    Played a short while before I started watching Barnsley, but a name mentioned regularly by my late father. I think I saw him play at Oakwell for Hull in the mid 80s?

    Can I also just say that one of the best things about this board is reading people's memories of players, staff etc when they pass away, particularly those before my time. Let the mind take you back to those eras and imagine watching them, some of the descriptions are really vivid.

    RIP Bobby. He scored one of the best goals I've seen at Oakwell. He was about 30 yards out. Ball came over to him from the left wing and he volleyed it first time into the bottom right corner. The ball remained about 6 inches off the turf all the way into the back of the net. Shame there's no footage of him.

    A classy player who didn't miss many games despite playing in an era where opposition defenders weren't averse to dishing out some questionable challenges. RiP Bobby.
