I agree with running away with the ball after conceding a free kick should be a yellow card, as should standing within ten yards of the ball to prevent a quick free kick, or moving forward before the ball is kicked. These should be punished with a card and moving the ball forward, as in rugby.
Give officials tasers , any desent from players or the bench they get tasered , I think it would stop desent and increase tv viewing figures and attendances . I’d also introduce it into golf for slow play
Scrap the points system entirely - to keep the season interesting for all teams. Award 5 goals for 1 goal scored 10 goals for a second etc...
1. Short sin-bins (2 minutes) for players guilty of dissent - e.g. disrespectful to referee, kicking the ball away, not moving away from a free kick, time-wasting. Basically all are offences that rarely get a yellow card but should be punished. 2. Additional rewards for scoring goals - could be more points for a win, such as bonus points in rugby. Makes the games more exciting for fans and incentivises attacking play. 3. Allow safe standing and allow fans to drink in the stands. In addition, have a zero-tolerance policy for violence within the ground. Clubs can flog as many tickets as they like and sell as much beer as they like, but they'll be heavily fined if fans get out of control. 4. Teams making significant losses have their central payments withheld by EFL and can only access them when they are used for paying debts/wages of ALL staff (not just playing staff). This would incentivise responsible ownership.
Oh and all teams South of Watford to start with -20 goals except for Portsmouth because they are more like a northern city.
Some good suggestions. Agree having a visible clock that is stopped when the ball is out of play would be excellent. Sin bins would be a decent move too, if used correctly.
Apparently it’s to protect the shirt sponsors as many photos are taken just after a goal and tv cameras focus on the scorer, the sponsor misses out on valuable publicity if the player has his shirt off.
if that's the case, it shouldn't be an FA rule leading to a booking, but an agreement between a club and the sponsor, whereby if a player does so, he's fined and the money given to the sponsors.
I think a hard flogging, followed by crucifixion should suffice. Maybe if the player re-offends he may have to watch 5 hours of Jeremy Kyle, whilst listening to Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" on repeat. 3rd offence, to be dissolved in a bath of acid...
Oh, I'd rather there be no punishment, but better an agreement between sponsor/club/player than an FA rule leading to a yellow card.
I think we should just force the players to have the sponsor tattoo'd on their chests. That way it doesn't matter if they take their shirt off...
My biggest pet hate is the way defenders are allowed to obstruct the ball out for goal kicks. Anywhere else on the pitch its a foul. Another is the rule that goal kicks are to be retaken if the ball doesnt leave the area. Its pointless but if the rule is to stay the same and it happens, an indirect free kick should be awarded.
A missed penalty should be a goal kick .no rebounds to the advantage of the penalty taker .there would also be no need for encroachment into the box
Make the pitches circular and a track round the outside that the keepers can move the goals on. That would keep them busy working the offisde rule out for decades. Lol * not a serious suggestion but it would be funny watching that play out.
that's a myth it's nothing to do with sponsorship. It's because showing bare stomachs and chests are offensive in some countries and they want football to appeal to everyone.its also because they are trying to increase the amount of women and girls playing football and you can see why a practice of whipping your shirt off to celebrate a goal may put them off joining in
If you injure a player by committing a bookable offence then you leave the pitch with the injured player. Pull a shirt then you have to complete the game wearing mittens Commit a foul deliberately to stop an attack, red card. Commit a foul as the last Man but it's a genuine attempt to play the ball and it's a one on one from wherever the foul occured but not a red card. Goalkeeper can't pick the ball up once he has it under his control. If the ball comes in he can pick it up instinctively or to stop the opposition getting it but once the referee judges that he has it under his control he can't then pick it up. Throw ins must be taken without a run up. This makes it much easier for a referee to stop players stealing yards. Whole of ball to be inside the arc when taking a corner. All time taken to assess an injury (not treat as treatment is supposed to be off the pitch) is time that player must then wait to be allowed back on. This is at the referees discretionary.
