I was there today. It was fecking ugly. I was sat at the side of that group of fans. I'm not surprised in the least that trouble came to them. There was bother near us at pompey. Young lad had to make a hasty exit. Same lad was ejected at Burnley. Can't blame everyone's stewards for winding up our underage drinkers.
Didn’t some blokes disabled kid get a crack and the same steward make his gpmouth then got slotted...
I've no idea, but I saw about a dozen of our young heros setting about a stranded steward. Brave stuff
If a thick kid can't stop standing on chairs when told not to then, to be honest he should get thrapped by a steward. In fact, give stewards cattle prods. Some of these "fans" are no better than farm animals anyway.
Not an excuse. If someone gets worked up enough by a referee to want to destroy property or start fighting, there are serious mental issues at play. Also not an excuse. If you can't handle alcohol without wanting to destroy property or start fighting, you shouldn't be drinking. If they comply, the stewards don't need to "appear mob-handed and screaming into people’s faces". They're literally just doing their job. Although just uttering the word 'job' would probably strike fear into the hearts of the idiots more than anything else.
Couldn't be arsed to read through all the posts but just wait till the Donny match.... there's a section of knobheads that will test the patience of Jobe. And I bet they all congregate in the top right hand section of the away end.
Its not a great advert - I have not gone to away games for a number of years, because apart from Leeds at home, its the worse behavior I've ever seen from Barnsley fans over the years, but I did go to Bradford away and our away fans were brilliant, so I took my son to Rochdale, again fans were brilliant - I guess that out of 2k potential away fans you're going to get 10 kn*b heads, and given the distance, they were the ones at Southend, which makes us look a lot worse then we really are.
The end holds what 2k? If there was 2k millwall fans in that end and a pissed up numpty wouldn't get off a seat I wonder if they would have gone in all guns blazing. Or think **** it it's only a pissed up idiot stood on a seat record the area and if anything happens to the seats we will grip him after the game with the coppers and do him for criminal damage.
That makes them sound like they were acting in the best interest of a fellow fan and would be a bit fanciful.
Just trying to put things into context, I wasn't making any excuses at all and just trying to make some reason based on personal observation taking into account the prevailing situation. I made no value judgements, unlike you. We’re you there?
Based on what I’ve been told by people of good standing then yes, that’s what would appear to have happened.
I've probably had a few arguments with you fella, but I'm struggling to remember a better post then this in a long time!! Made my night.
How do you know I'm not of "good standing" ? Whatever that is. I go to every game, sober, and I'm telling you that group of young lads were very drunk and were an incident waiting to happen.
According to twitter the lads dad said to the steward "Do you feel hard hitting someone with disabilities" he replied "**** off I'll hit who I want, all disabled people should be killed at birth you northern ******" Sounds like a nice chap.
