...We’ve had a worse 45 minutes performance wise at home this season. Couldn’t string two passes together, all looked out of sorts except maybe Bähre, Green looked pacy and frightened them in patches but aside that, quite poor. Credit Stanley for ruining it - but they haven’t got two in them I don’t think and there should be space galore second half as they will have to push on. Can see us getting a couple more, though it might be an opportunity to play within ourselves a bit. I’ll take another poor 45 minutes on Tuesday - if it means we’re two nil up again. But we will have to be much better on Tuesday night, to be fair against a side who I doubt will come to spoil as much.
Don't think it was our best, but at the same time think it was probably a long way off being our worst 45 minutes.
Disagree we should have had about 6 today Woodrow missed a free header after 5 mins and should have had a hat trick.
I don't recognise that assessment. If we could shoot we'd be winning games comfortably. I will say that some of our fannying about at the back with Davies and Lindsey is downright dangerous. I know we ought not to just hoof it upfield from the back, but sometimes our defence looks more troublesome to us than the opponent's attack.
It was another win which never felt in doubt. Bahre, woodrow, Mowatt, Dougall and the defence were a class above the opposition . Thiam and Green cobtributed well as did the subs, delighted with that and it certainly wasn't poor, woeful or anything negative and if you can't be happy with that performance at this stage of the season with the players we have missing then I don't know why you bother watching the reds.
Accrington tried doing a Burton. We struggled up until their keeper made a **** up rushing off his line for our first goal. Their game plan had to change and we kicked on. We need to do better finishing teams off, should have put it bed earlier. A 2 goal lead can be a dangerous lead to have when missing as much chances as we did. They had chances to get back into it.
I think the wind made some of our passing look bad but once the first goal was in we had it in the bag and another comfortable win. No one injured, no red cards and Sunderland are in the 60s points wise while we're in the 70s. Psychologically that makes me feel very good, as does the fact we are only 3 points between us and Luton.
It’s a strange one because In a season where were scoring goals for fun we are incredibly wasteful at times especially at home.Having said all that I thought we played some great one touch football at times and always looked a class above.
We did in the second half. I thought we were poor in the first half and it looked like a frustrating afternoon lay ahead. The word I used was disjointed. The goals were very unexpected.
True after 35 minutes it looked like it could be one of those days but it’s all about finding a way to win and this team always finds a way.
I bother watching as I choose to do so, not sure my post warrants that as a response. Never said or even implied I wasn’t happy. We never looked like losing. But that first half wasn’t a good performance - and credit goes to the opposition for that. We were much better on the ball second half but I maintain that first half we didn’t play particularly well at all. We weren’t awful - we haven’t played badly at home all season - but the point I was making was that we hadn’t played well, as disjointed as we’ve been at home in a good while, but we still had the game won. Second half passed quite untroubled and we move on to Tuesday unscathed.
Doesnt help when teams time waste from the first minute and constantly slow the game down. It’s all about getting the first goal and then we’re in control of the game.
Especially today taking 20-30 seconds for goal kicks after about 15 minutes, kicking the ball away slyly and chuntering to the ref every chance they got to waste more time. Luckily unlike the Burton game we scored to stop it.
Think I'm a bit off it today, I've had a couple of rants on here this evening I think I'll have a glass of red and watch a film with the wife and turn this off. Sorry pal.
