3 points and I’m confident we will go on to win the league Bradford will beat Luton Tuesday I reckon Oakwell will be bouncing
I'm not having this pub league thing. Some more than decent sides in League One this time and apart from the late 70s/early 80s, I can't remember a more exciting season watching tarn. This side just oozes class and some of the football has been breathtaking.
Well tbh, I think there has been some shocking sides in this league, look at Accrington Stanley yesterday, they were dreadful and they weren't much better at their place either. However you can only beat what's put in front of you and we are doing very very well so well done Mr Stendel and co. Let's see Blunderland off and the prize will be in sight. But imo it is nicknamed the pub league for good reason. Some awful teams in it.
I definitely want to go up but this season has been one of the best that I can remember. I was dreading watching another season in league one when we were relegated but it's been excellent so far. I can't wait for Tuesday.
That result yesterday at Bradford was good for us they’ve given themselves a fighting chance of survival, and they’ll be up for it Tuesday nah. It’s no secret Luton have been outstanding this season but these last few weeks they aren’t blowing teams away like they were previously. That said tho I do hope Luton are in the top 2 alongside ourselves at the end of season.
Interesting post regarding Luton, could it be the pressure of leading the pack? Are they looking too far ahead? If you go back a couple of weeks to when they went a record 20 games unbeaten then I thought their celebrations were way OTT. It was almost like they were celebrating winning the league title. I also think a lot of teams have gone to Kenilworth Road this season and tried to make a game of it and because it's been so open Luton have scored loads with the quality in their side. However, more recently teams are paying them more respect, setting up more defensively and not making it as easy for them. When you consider we've had a number of teams setting up defensively pretty much the whole season at Oakwell then I think we've done very well! There's gonna be plenty of twists and turns before the end of the sesson!
Annoys the hell out of me this pub league thing. Who the hell do we think we are? If it were folk on the Sunderland board writing us and the rest off as pub teams we'd be incandescent.
I hope Oakwell is bouncing. It'll make a change. Considering everything that we've achieved so far, and what's still possible, the grounds like a morgue most weeks. You would think we had nothing to play for. You can guarantee that come the end of the season, extra thousands will want to be there for the game that sees us promoted, or the playoff games. Why not now? I want to be at every game possible. I don't want to miss a minute of it. I can't undertstand the mentality of those that don't want the thrill off the chase, just the kill.
I disagree with the whole Oakwell morque bit. I would say there was chanting for most of the game. Conditions similar to Saturday weather wise so it might be to their advantage.
Promotion would be fabulous! But let’s not forget about our last season in the championship- too many teams were cynical - falling down when looked at funny, sly elbows & kicks etc. L1 isn’t a pub league - such as the Ackers had to get into the EFL & then get promotion from L2 to play us. They and all the other clubs in the bottom 2 tiers are proper clubs & deserve our respect! The Mickey Mouse league is the premier league as it doesn’t inhabit the real world with the disgraceful sums of money sloshing around. I wish they’d sod off to their world super league but perhaps it’s difficult for them until the likes of Leeds, Villa & Sunderland are up there with them.
I don't think two small groups in the ponty end trying to get people going constitutes a decent atmosphere. Totally different type of support at away games. I'm not saying Oakwell is alone in this either. Most clubs home fans are quiet, but my point is most clubs don't have a chance of winning the league.
It's such a 'pub league' that we've dropped points against six of the bottom ten teams. I'd rather give DS credit for getting us playing so well than denigrating opposition clubs who for me represent the true spirit of football more than any of the foreign owned franchise businesses in the 'greed league'.
Tbh we came down last season with a championship squad and held onto the majority of them, no one as a Devine right to walk this league but for the majority we have played some fantastic stuff, I think it's more of us being very good this year not other teams being " tin pot" the majority of the other teams fans say " thank God we only play Barnsley twice" I do however think this team will/ would be more suited to the championship, COYR
