when you consider where we got him from and the amount of game time he has had with us... AND the team he is now playing against. Then I think we might have unearthed a gem... ok a few mistakes and rough edges , but I see true potential here.
I also asked this a few weeks ago Dragon, on TM. I asked if he/Green could be a real weapon for us, a real threat to the opposition as a sub, and with his pace etc.
a good deal of polishing needed , but I think we will see a real GEM at the end... "see what I did there " huh ?
A gem indeed eh lol, lets wait and see eh. And the same has to be said about the kid Styles, is he going to be another one of those unearthed gems eh.
Definitely has the raw attributes to progress, at 24 though he's not exactly a kid. Will be interesting to see if we can flesh out his game into what we require.
Really ? I thought he was yards off the pace at times and his reading of the game was poor . Opinions eh !
For the future maybe but unless it’s a run to the byline, at present he looks a little lost, needs experience but is this the right time, probably best as ‘super sub’ at present.
This. Looked out of his depth. Raw. Nervy and at times just looked like he was hiding. Williams looked the complete opposite when he came on.
Green was poor tonight, Williams looked miles better. That said, if his positional play improves, he will be useful for the last 30 minutes of games this season, to unlock a defence. I'm pretty sure Brown will be back starting after suspension.
No sign of that electric pace we were supposed to be getting. With Sunderland looking so poor in defence it was crying out for one or two jinking runs at them. We might have got a penalty but he just didn’t seem capable of forcing them onto the back foot
This. Just looked too lightweight. Time to bulk out over the summer, but I think the Championship might be too much for him. Love him to prove me wrong though. Williams did look a lot better - but has been in the ‘system’ a lot longer. Overall, I’ll reserve judgement until Xmas. Some lesser teams he’ll rip apart. But Sunderland were a bit behind him.
That's how I saw it tonight. Saturday was well impressed with him but didn't think he was great tonight. That said, I really do think he'll be a threat the rest of this season
Look how many levels he’s gone up. People need to give him some time. He has got a great first touch and is super tricky. Just need to improve his composure, up his confidence and get some more experience and he will make a good player.
He didn’t have a massively effective game but i thought Adam Matthews at left back marshalled him very well, Green tried to run at him or round him a few times to no effect. He was defended well. He has a good touch, gets his head up, and will win free kicks under pressure. He’s a long way to go, but he’s got a chance if he takes on the coaching we will give him.
Hes had to come in probably a bit early in his development, due to suspensions etc. Wasnt great last night but i felt the sunderland lads kicked him a bit and thats all part of his experience. As you say good touch, quick and direct, up to last night he had showed a lot of potential, his time will come.
