Think that fits in with what we thought.

I thought he went into it sloppy, shouldn't go in side on like he did. Not seen the replay just what l saw at the game.

    It doesn't work like that.

Bird wasn't on the bench last night - he's hardly been seen. The other two are not likely to do more than a sub' job late on.

Williams looks a better footballing Jordan to me than Green.

We have enough in defence to get us over the line, and on the wings we can get by.

Centre mid and upfront we should have done more in January. We have a great first team, but there's a gulf between them and many of their replacements.

Nowhere near a knee injury, straight blow to shin

Heard a crack from behind goal hoping it was on shin pads rather then his leg cracking

    Wow.

You don’t need a blow to the knee directly to rupture or strain ligaments. In fact a blow to the knee rarely does ligament damage, it’s more unnatural twisting or heavy blows above or below the knee.

With a blow as heavy to the shin like that a lot of energy will have dissipated through the knee itself. Which might have overly strained the soft tissues.

I suspect that it isn’t a knee injury as it goes. Certainly hope not.

    Though it certainly could be.

He’s had a good pre-season already. Probably that he’s not really played that many games, so lacking in match fitness.

Isn’t Hartford returning to his previous role as Head of Recruitment at Luton, or is he off altogether?

I know shin pads are mandatory but they are miniscule compared to the old days (although in past times some chose not to wear them). The problem is most footballers seem to have ones that only protect a very small lower part of the shin. Some go for as small and light a pad as they can get away with. You can see that from when the socks are low or rolled down. Any impact anywhere above half way up the shin means full contact with the unprotected part of the leg.
I know you cant wear cricket pad sized ones but the smaller the shin guard the more likelihood of what happened to Dougal. Surely some mandatory minumum size should be specified to reduce the risk.

PS Perhaps our billionaire owners could arrange a trip to Wakanda and buy some vibranium to make some custom shin pads!! That should give us an edge:)

Nowt we didn't suspect there then.

Question is, what does George actually do when the others are getting fit in pre season? He's seemed unfit for all of his with us, and now Luton.
