That looks like a criminal assault to me.

It's about time that footballers were prosecuted for their actions on the pitch. In no other job would you be allowed to commit assault in front of police officers who just turned a blind eye to it

Behaviour like that is bred in clubs like that, Harris will probably put an arm round him after and give him a pat on the back.

There's nothing sporting about assaulting someone.

Maybe he's just a clumsy **** footballer that made a bad tackle, it does happen . There's been a few recently . I think the Police have enough on their hands at the minute without having to get involved with nonsense like this . The referee dealt with the incident correctly , end of really .

I wasn't talking solely about this incident. If I walked up to somebody and headbutted them in front of a police officer I would be arrested. If a footballer does it in front of the same police officer he looks away

This was not a dangerous tackle. The ball had long gone.

This was simply a decision made in anger to rake his studs down the calf of the Brighton player who had his back to events and had no opportunity to see it coming or defend himself.

It is clearly an unlawful assault and I would be interested to know what injury was caused. In criminal law a shod foot is classed as a weapon when used in an assault. A football boot with studs/blades clearly gives rise to the risk of still greater harm being caused.

In the event of a complaint from the Brighton player the police would have to investigate the matter, there being the clearest evidence of conduct which, were it to have been committed in the street, would obviously give rise to a charge.

There is no defence simply because the incident occurred during a game. I have prosecuted a couple of local league incidents and there is of course the precedent of Duncan Ferguson who I think did time for an on-field assault.

I was disappointed but not surprised that the pundits largely sidestepped what was an outrageous act which would have attracted huge coverage had it been a Pemier League game.

Still, it’s good old Miwaww, so let’s turn a blind eye and pretend they are a family club doing all they can to rid their club of a violent minority.

That incident epitomises the club and brings home the reality that their players, manager and fans are rotten to the core.

To think Tom Bradshaw moved to them for family reasons. Oh the irony.

In all my years watching football I've never seen a footballer properly headbutt another player . I should know I've got the scars of one .
