Signed, but no email yet. Biggest pile of shambolic clusterbuffoonerismness in my lifetime. Call the entire thing off.
No but neither did 17 million people vote for leaving with no deal or Mays deal (which is even less popular than no deal) Quite a few did but also quite a few voted based on the fact that Leave said there were no downsides and we would be financially better off. Quite a few leavers now saying they never voted for this Not to mention the referendum has been proven to be flawed as vote leave broke several of the rules. Were it a legally binding referendum it would be declared invalid
I don’t believe that to be the case and anyway im sure when parliament invoked this act they knew if it could be hacked or not . If this is the case then non of the earlier outcomes from it are valid which I just don’t see. Brexiteers will be telling us next that democracy as a whole unless it put on side of s bus is a sham.
17 million voted to leave the EU and nowhere did it say that we should break the laws if leaving especially as we had signed up to installing these laws in case anyone wanted to leave .
It's quite cathartic watching that total go up by the second. Nearly up to 1m now...... https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/241584
Parliament will force her to revoke before allowing that. But thanks for letting me know what Darren thinks.
A large amount weren't eligible due to their age but will be most affected. And I am factually correct
Thanks for the info ...but I won't be signing. I prefer to maintain solidarity with the 60 odd percent of South Yorkshire voters who voted to Leave.
After thinking about it for ages I couldn’t bring myself to vote on this as both sides were bombarding us with lie after self serving lie and they still are. My arse isn’t as firm as it used to be as a younger man but it’s not particularly fat.
Wishful thinking from some on here that a Petition will lead to Revoking A50. Even in the highly unlikely event that the numbers signing reached more than 17.4 million, there is no way of validating them to ensure multiple accounts are not used or all signatories would be eligible to vote. Whilst It WOULD justify a 2nd referendum, there is insufficient time to do so prior to the enforced leave date. To revoke Article 50 really needs empirical evidence that it is truly the will of the people and that can only be achieved through a Referendum and not based on social media forums, petitions started by any individuals or media polls using relatively small samples. Any revocation of Article 50 without a referendum prior to that would be, as has been stated by numerous commentators on both sides of the debate, political suicide and immensely damaging to the UKs reputation as a democracy and the HoC as the 'mother of parliaments'. You can disagree with me all you want but those are the facts and not based on my personal views regarding Leave or Remain.
Lies during the campaign? Very likely; on both sides. What aren't lies though are the stats and numbers on how many companies are bailing out on the UK. Over 10% of the UK's banking assets have been moved overseas as a direct result of Brexit. It's expected that figure will break £1 trillion if we end in a no-deal departure. The NHS have just this week cited Brexit as the prime reason behind drug shortages. We've got first hand experience of this as our son's epilepsy medication has turned into unobtainium in the last few weeks. Still, he'll take great comfort from his blue passport - maybe if he licks the cover twice a day it'll stop him having seizures.
So this article cleared in parliament with a majority of in excess of 380... A clear democratic process. One youd assume our well versed and knowledgable elected representatives understood and were aware of the consequences forthwith. Now the day is dawning theres a petition called to bin it. Regardless of your point of view ( in some peoples cases it might make life difficult on the piste..) an attempt now to interject this process will not only show how inept the current sitting mps are it could also be construde as an attempt to subvert a democratic process.
