I live in Italy. No they are not. Whilst there is little appetite to leave the EU, many ordinary people in Central Italy are very disenchanted with the EU. The further South you go , the more that turns to anger.
If you are in the Italian tourist hotspots in the North.. Milan, Florence, Venicie, Turin, Bologna, they are rather like London in that are not representative of the wider public opinions. Rome being the home of government, likewise.

No, but you'd know that you'd get the opportunity to hold a further vote in a few years anyway. Brexit is different, there is likely to be no easy way to undo the decision once done.

People who suggest a second referendum would be undemocratic make me laugh. What is undemocratic is upholding a decision which was made based on misinformation (on both sides) and with little knowledge of the process or the consequences. I don't see how referring the issue back to the electorate when things become clearer can possibly be undemocratic.

WTFF - Russia want Brexit what possible reason would they have for setting bots on the revoke petition
Still if Farage said something its almost by definition untrue

Cant be bothered to look for it but there was a great inverview with RTE's Claire Byrne a few weeks ago where Farage made several similarly bull statements and she hit staight back with facts and he looked a total pillock as he had no come back - wish our journalists were as robust

Yep, he also claimed this morning that "all the opinion polls" show an increasing majority for leaving with no deal, which is actually the exact polar opposite of what "all the opinion polls" show. On the BBC, though, so not confronted over his statement.

They’ve done that for a while now for various reasons usually stuff like wearing socks and sandals, drinking Cappuccino at any time of day etc. it’s just the laughing is a little bit louder now than it was before, which when you look at their political climate currently just shows how much of a mess May has made of this situation.

It's more like block counting rather than block voting. It's only updating the count every 10-15 minutes as it kept crashing before.

Our local MP would disagree with another referendum as would I.

Stephanie Peacock, the MP for Barnsley East, has resigned as a Labour whip saying she felt in 'all good conscience' she had to vote against any form of second Brexit referendum.
In her resignation letter she told Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn that she fully understood and accepted that if an MP could not follow the Labour Whip, the honourable thing to do was to leave the front bench".

Does that include the opinion poll he set up on Peston where Revoke A50 won?

The question I dont get is why are people so opposed to it no one has actually given a reason that stands any scrutiny and just to say its undemocratic to have a second referendum now its a lot clearer what is being voted on is frankly bizarre

There was a referendum which had a small majority in favour of leave - details TBA but we would be better off.
There were irregularities in the referendum
Directly affected British citizens living abroad were denied a vote
As were EU nationals who had been living here for years - so its a sketchy mandate at best - but fair enough to use to see what Brexit could look like

3 years later we now have a choice of a deal to leave that no one likes or leave with no deal which was never mentioned as even a remote possibility in the referendum campaign and if the opinion polls are right is supported by more of the public than Mays deal.
Almost none of the Leave promises about Brexit have come true. There is no brexit dividend there will be severe economic impact the majority of the country will be worse off. Also any trade deal with Europe or the USA will involve us accepting their standards which we will have no influence on. In fact the USA are even talking about support of their foreign policies including on Israel as a condition of a trade deal and access to take over parts of our NHS.

As I see it there are now 4 possibilities
1.May gets her deal through via blackmail and clearly not really supported by MP's even if they do cave and support it 3rd time, or the General Public - doesn't seem very democratic

    2. We leave with no deal - Actually voted against by MP's and all polls show doesn't have the support of the public either.

3.Revoke A50 - all the Anti Referendum campaigners would claim this is undemocratic. I suspect its what the majority of MP's want to do but politically its tricky as they don't have a real mandate for that - other than in their considered view its in the best interests of the country.

4.Have a new referendum now we have real options - something like 2 questions 1. Leave or remain 2. if Leave wins No deal or Mays deal - thats actually real democracy.

Fundamentally though the referendum was meant to solve the internal problems in the Tory party - it has spectacularly failed to do that. It could still have worked had Leave planning remained cross party like the referendum campaign was.
The problem was that a small group of Tory MP's led by May Johnson Davis and Raab defined a brexit plan in isolation and its not one that sits well with the majority of MP's or the public. Had a cross party group worked out a real strategy - also taking into account the views of the 16 Million remain voters who for the most part would reluctantly accept a softer brexit we could have been leaving next week with the majority of the public and MP's behind it.

FWIW I would prefer us to just revoke have a period of reflection work on fixing the higher priority issues in the UK - like the fact that schools now cant afford to stay open 5 days a week and the NHS waiting lists are getting out of control and crime is rising thanks to police cuts
Then under no cliff edge date work out if there is any sensible way to withdraw in stages with a plan - maybe to be come some sort of second tier European state or possibly move towards an EFTA solution - or if that fails just forget the whole thing

Ive no real appetite for a second referendum The first once caused all this mess and a badly done second one wont help at all, but if its that or no deal/mays deal I would fully support anyone behind it. BTW the Petition is almost at 3million now will pass it before mid day

at the risk of flogging the proverbial dead horse on this democratic will of the people malarky even the PM's own lawyer admits that the whole thing was corrupt but the PM decided to ignore all that and just carry on

Italy laughing, that's like a homeless man laughing at somebody eating steak, Italy have lost the moral high ground when it comes to "laughing at us" because they are doing magnificently at the moment aren't they, maybe they should laugh at Greece, Spain, France and even Germany
