I know it's very early to judge him but to me he looks to have the makings of a really useful footballer. He's nippy, good on the ball and puts himself about well. He can pick a pass and isn't afraid of having a shot or winning a ball. He appears to have that bit of intelligence in situations, a little like Scowen had. Clearly I'm going off two cameos but I'm hoping we've got a really good player here.
I thought it was brave taking Mcgheehan off and leaving him in a two in the centre with Mowatt but there is definitely signs of a talent there hope he gets a run of sub appearances. May be worth a run in the Bahre role playing higher up off woodrow as I don't see him playing wide or being ready as one of a cm two. I do hope Bahre shines soon though.
Thought he was awful today. Couldn’t find a man with any of his passes and constantly lost possession. When he came on against Accrington Stanley I thought he looked very impressive, lovely flicks and a willingness to take players on and drive forward. This illustrates to me perfectly the inconsistency that is usual in a young player, end of the day we won and so long as we keep winning they can all underperform as much as they humanly can, balls to it.
Looked to have the makings of a very good player. Few mistakes, but clearly has natural ability and took risks.
Both McGeehan and Brown showed today how difficult it is to be straight up to speed. That's my excuse for them anyway. Styles would need a run before judgement passes.
I think he might be one to play as a DM now kenny is injured. We need that shield infront of the back 4 and it also allows cam and mowett to push higher up the pitch. Bahre might as well have come sat with me on sofa all good he did today so drop him for styles for me next match.
A word used here .......... intelligence. And it’s a word that is lacking in the last third. Battering ram tactics doesn’t always work. Styles looks class.
Hence why I said “This illustrates to me perfectly the inconsistency that is usual in a young player”
Every player today made mistakes players that have played a lot more games than Styles to say he was awful is very harsh
So based on that is it only possible for experienced players to have awful games? How many games do players get before they can be rated in this category? It’s possible for good players to have bad games. Just to be crystal clear, I said his performance was awful not the player was awful. Also said he had an impressive cameo against Accrington. Anyway who cares? We won and hopefully next game the entire team including Styles perform better.
Our coach decided to keep him and stated "he could work with him" when deciding on whether or not to loan him out again in jan......thats good enough for me. Shows loads of promise.
He wasn’t great today. Think the pitch played against us today. All of our players who like to run with the ball struggled.
