He should have been taking more notice. No rule got broke. He's only got himself to blame. Great bit of quick thinking by the bowler to get out a batter who was in great touch.

    Unsporting.

A proper cricketer would have given him a warning about being out of his crease and made the umpire.aware.

He wasn’t even backing up when the delivery was going to be bowled.

Ashwin might think he’s clever but there’s no place for that in cricket.

Buttler was out that way for England a few years back and I had less sympathy then as he was miles out of his crease. He was in the crease here when Ashwin was in his delivery stride - he pulled out intentionally.

It is within the ‘laws’ (there aren’t rules, they are laws), but it’s certainly not in the right spirit of the game.

If moeen Ali did that to Kohli, the ICC would amend the playing conditions or get the MCC to amend the law.

It’s a farcical decision. When he stopped his action he’s well in his crease. A batsman should be able to walk in with the bowler without taking the piss which he wasn’t.

Awful to see, he had no intention of delivering the ball. If that's how its going to be it will need a rule change.

Here's a still which goes to show Buttler isn't overstepping and the bowler is just waiting for him to move so he can get him out.

It was an act of unsporting desperation, Butler wasn't 2 yards down the track but just walking in with the bowler . There are unwritten rules in every sport and today one was broken . I hope Aswin enjoys his dodgy win .

Mankadding is about the lowest of the low in cricket

I know he’s not broken any rules blah blah but I’m not having it. Bowl the ball and play the game in the spirit it was designed

By that rule Buttler only has himself to blame and especially as he's been out this way before so not learned. The first time in IPL history this has happened.

Total disgrace agree with all comments made thus far. I'm an ex bowler and it's customary to warn the batsman. Ashwin's got form for this behaviour. ICC need to clear up the law and customs surrounding it before WC. Can you imagine this happening in a WC final.

Sometimes you have little sympathy for batsmen but Buttler did nothing wrong. Ashwin played dirty and deserves a ban.

No doubt the IPL will fall behind support for Ashwin as he is “one of their own” - Indian Cricket Royalty.

If I was at a Yorkshire or England game and one of our players did that I would be ashamed, pathetic behaviour.

Absolutely ridiculous decision they should look where the batter is when the bowler stops in this case it would be not out. The rule really does need to be looked at as a ex cricketer myself it’s shameful to be looking to win a game in such a manor.

He's deprived the paying crowd of an opportunity to watch a fair contest against one of the best limited overs batsmen in the world. What an embarrassment. Have to be a bit of a weasel to accept a win in that fashion.

I think the presenters on the Cricinfo clip would have a completely different opinion had it happened to Kohli / Ashwin or any other Indian batsman

I remember a school game when our bowler did the same thing, albeit he didn’t fully stop in his delivery stride, and our games teacher, who was umpiring at the wicket said not out as he hadn’t warned the batsmen first!!

It's akin to sending darn a pea-roller off the last ball when a six is needed.
