2 goals scored at home would normally have been enough but our defence kept going AWOL today . All over the place. That said as someone else said our finishing is atrocious. We should have scored twice in the first 3 minutes of the 2nd half. Home crowd doesn't help. Getting on the players backs (you could hear it on iFollow) We are 2nd and still unbeaten in weeks.
Second at the mo however clinging on more than is comfortable with 6 games left. Probably playoffs I reckon unless we get our **** together and start converting these chances from here on in
The commentators on iFollow mentioned it a few times and you could hear it clearly on several occasions when we lost possession or made a stray pass. The background ambient sound isn't that great on iFollow but you could hear it. Coventry also outsung Barnsley fans
Who said anything about it being the "fans fault"? However, a young team going through a dodgy patch where confidence seemed to be lacking a bit need the fans behind them not going all quiet and then audibly complaining when things are not going well. It is not as if Barnsley haven't been entertaining this season.
Yes let’s agree it’s the fans fault - on the say so of someone listening to the match on the internet and not actually there... There were some groans. They started probably after the third or fourth good chance from at or near the edge of the box was put into the stand. Oakwell has had a much better atmosphere this season than any other in recent times. I can’t think of anywhere where there is constant, equivocal support for their team. Maybe palace. Nowhere has constant singing and backing. We are no worse than 99% of other clubs but we might do better at home sometimes, yeah. But to be dug out as supporters, by one who wasn’t there, is a bit rich.
Coventry certainly didn’t out-sing us. As a west stand-upper I recall even joining in with one chant. We were 2-1 up at that point though. As for the game, very poor in defence, basically gifted them their goals. No conviction in the passing, or tackles, it was poor.
I don't get all this you couldn't hear us crap.Coventry fans made more noise than they had at home but it wasn't constant just like from our fans. There were no boos, the players got clapped and cheered off. It certainly wasn't silent.
Apologies. I fully accept that if you were at the match, you know far better what the atmosphere was like in your part of the ground, but I can only report what I heard and what the I Follow commentators said commentator and summariser (ex-player ). I am sure others listening on iFollow must have heard the comments made by them too. At one point, when it was 2-2-??, they highlighted how quiet and nervous the crowd had become and it does not help players' confidence by getting on at them and we need to get behind them.(That said I heard no booing). I cannot comment on the crowd reaction as the players left the pitch because, annoyingly, iFollow always cuts the video within seconds of the final whistle. Someone needs to have a word with the iFollow broadcasters re audio (I have no idea where they locate the pitch side microphones) 'cos apart from when we scored and for short periods after the crowd sounded very quiet and for periods you could only hear the Coventry fans. As an aside, for me it was a curate's egg kind of game. I enjoyed it as an end to end spectacle with opposition that came to try and win and whilst it was a disappointing conceding avoidable goals, some of our forward build up play was sublime. The frustrating part for me, and I suspect for most of us, continues to be the profligacy in front of goal. How many shots with clear sight of goal ended up in row z when a bit of placement over power would have seen us 3 or even 4 up long before Davies had to make a number of fantastic saves to keep us level.
Well I sit in the ponty end so that is where the noise generates. I well remember the groans and frustration of last year and honestly the atmosphere yesterday was nothing like it.
Good atmosphere yesterday I thought. I commented that we must have imported a load of new supporters or the Spring weather had loosened the vocals. Coventry’s fans were excellent. Very noisy and a lot of them.
