    Thurnscoe is a reds fan. I've spoken to him once or twice but many years ago.

    Back in the 80s when we only had a few hundred regular away fans, he and his mates were familiar faces at games.

    Yeah but he’s threatened to beat up Toby Tyke, no true Red’s fan would do a thing like that.

    Thurnscoe mate, you need to apologise to the forum for wanting to lay out our glorious dog mascot. Only then can you be forgiven and accepted back into our ranks as a Red.

    As for t’old Wombwell, all he has to do is publicly apologise for bullying me and I’ll forgive him too.

    The good old days late 70ish and the 80is , where has the time gone ??please don’t tell people on here we only had a few hundred reds fans travelling away from home there won’t believe you Lol
    Did you go to the away games with a couple of lads from the Hemsworth area .only why I am asking is were it the same lads who were involved in a serious car crash going the watch Barnsley. Just wondering if there are still going
    Anyway Thanks again someone might be surprised to know I am a Barnsley fan of well over 40 years just like yourself mate

    Been watching reds since 60s. But are you mad. Going to the away games in 70s early 80s. Having to run the gauntlet at most places. Started going away more often late 80s, after mi balls had dropped. :):)

    Cheers Mario. Unfortunately I cannot see any reference to the bet on those links, but they made good reading! As I have no doubt that I will never collect on my bet, I will donate £50 to a local Barnsley charity. Any suggestions for worthwhile suggestions? Sensible ones :(

    I used to travel with social club. Played football for them late 80s early 90s great times.

    I knew those lads mate. Steve Rawlings was from Elmsall. He sometimes came with us in the car back in the day. The other lad mark? Atwood was from Hemsworth and I think there were two brothers in the car as well. Steve and mark sadly died in the accident.

    Aye, the numbers for away games were laughable really. You knew everyone's face. Kelvin and Ashleys little gang. Social club, Royston legion and a few that made their own way. Then your lads who usually appeared from the home section about 5 minutes after kick off!
