In today's Chronicle there's a piece on Ryan Hedges. In it, he says he would like to stay at Oakwell and is hoping for a strong end to the season which hopefully will help secure him a new deal. He played his part in both goals that we scored against Coventry. He says it's frustrating not getting game time but that's what can happen in football. He's found it difficult to fit into the coaches plans but has tried to make sure he is able to press and be defensively solid to fit into what he demands of the players. He says he wants to take the form he showed last Saturday into the remaining games and be confident in what he does. He concludes by saying that it would mean everything to get promoted and release the demons after last season when with the team we had, in his view, we should have avoided the drop into League One. I find his statement encouraging, given that there has been some speculation recently, that suggested that following his first start for Wales, his head might be turned causing him to look elsewhere to ply his trade next term. Question is, like some of our other players, will he be up to the rigours demanded in the Championship, if of course we manage to get there.?
So are you saying that hedges need chopping... Any gardeners looking for work.... Lol taxi il get mi coite..
I would like to see him start upfront along side Woodrow. After all it states winger or striker on his cv
Deserves a start after his performance in the last match. He is very inconsistent, but to be fair to him it's hard to show consistency when you aren't given a run of games.
I agree, if I remember correctly I’m sure Marley Watkins CV said the same and he was tried as a striker but was better for us on the wing. With Moore out and no strong contender as a partner for Woodrow, could this be the answer?
Bearing in mind the injury-wrecked season he has had, I thought that he showed every sign of coming back to his best form on Saturday. I know that he missed that early chance, but look at his movement, pace and passing, especially for Woodrow's goal and you can see his value. if he gets in the grove on Saturday, Burton had better watch out. I would stick with Thiam up top alongside Woodrow. He looked a bit stiff at times, but he made the first goal very well and doesn't pack a punch in that right boot.
I think if we go up he has little chance of a new deal, given his lack of game time this season in L1. If he plays well in the next six he is in the shop window for either us or other interested clubs. There is a good footballer in there.
There is but he’s another one that seems to pick up a lot of niggly injury’s. over his whole time here he’s not really earned the right to be offered a new deal. This is his chance.
Agree. It’s tricky - not enough games due to injury. But, sometimes players who have a run get that consistency and go on to do well. McGheehan is a good example. George Williams too the other year. Finally though - If Ryan Giggs thinks he decent, he can’t be that bad can he?
Thing is Ryan Giggs only needs him for a couple of games every few months. We need someone that’s fit and avail most weeks.
The fitness part speaks for itself. Ability wise is he good enough? I think he is, if he can get a run under his belt.
