Before anybody says owt, I have posted on here before I've always been a bit mystified by their intentions. I am genuinely intrigued as to their long term plans
    Lets resume:
We are in a league lower than when they took us over. There hasnt been much to suggest a let's get back to that league at any cost. We kept a relegation squad together but, Woodrow excepted- a slam dunk buy for anybody- we didnt strengthen in depth
there are no signs of any meaningful infrastructure improvements
Apart from that it's groundhog day really:
We have lost a CEO who has not been replaced
We have sold players in the january transfer window (including to direct rivals) without adequate replacements (nowt against Green for some point in the future but he aint brad potts - or Moncur for that matter for the battle at hand)
Our best team on paper is good but we have no strength in depth - to mean that seems like a gamble

The new owners are here to make money nothing more or less. They won’t invest a penny of their own beyond what they have to take over the club.

Quite a few of last season’s squad were gone by the end of August, such as Hammill, MCarthy, Pearson, Yiadom

With some reluctance I have come to the same conclusion. However, still bemused. So they make the odd £3,000,000 on a player. When you're a multi-billionaire that's pocket change. Only thing I can think of is owning a club gives some sort of advantage I don't know about in negotiations for media rights or similar

If we don't get promoted their first full season can be deemed a failure.

Come May we can decide if their failures this season (January transfer window for example) is as costly as last season when they deemed Morais good enough.

I respect your optimism but I dont think we have anything concrete to suggest that. They had a chance to make it more sure in January and didnt. Also do you think there would be any merit in suggesting that if your business model is to develop young players and sell on for profit, it's easier to "blood" young players in this league. Yes, it's a fact you'd get less money the lower down the leagues you are, but stick sell on clauses on everybody and that's not a problem.

What's the point though? Surely you want to dine be out as owners of a higher division club? If they didnt want us promoted they could have accepted offers on players in January.

Actually carry on with this they don't want to go up, same was said when we were going for promotion to the premiership!

Couple of things on this, I like everyone else cannot see what is in it for the new owners, especially the amount of time Conway is spending here.
You mention 3 million on a player but by time you’ve taken wages for said player etc out there wouldn’t be a lot left.
In terms of media, the only thing I can see is a decent successful team would be highly marketable in the new emerging markets in China and India, there would be some real money to be made over there from it.

As boring as the answer is, I think this is it.

Look at us as a low-risk investment. We didn't cost much money, and can be usually guaranteed to turn small profits on players with mostly our own income and revenue being re-invested. That is, we have a solid fan base, no debt, and are much more likely to go up than down. The cost of replacing players is also minimal due to an existing working structure.

As a business owner, that's what you want. Diversify your interests to lower the risk, and those small profits add up into big ones, and you become a multi-millionaire(billionaire, etc).

But it's well known you don't make serious money owning a football club.

Be better if the owners communicated their plans to the supporters.

Ive enjoyed this season. I cant knock the players or manager at all. I never thought the new owners had come to spend their money on our hobby. Its Potts for Greens not rags.

Eventually we have to realise our new owners policy is doomed to failure. You can’t ever sign new inexperienced players to replace experienced players when they come from a lower level and have yet to prove themselves you are always running the risk of weakening the squad and with no real promise of progress.

But that's what I was trying to say. You don't. You can make small profits.

If you own lots of different businesses, all of which make small profits, you'll make large profits.

Spread your bets. We're an investment vehicle, not a 'stick it all on red'.

Im not sure of their intentions quite honestly. But looking at the facts, were in a lower league than when they took over (thanks to hiring the worst barnsley manager in my lifetime) and weve brought in more money from player sales than what weve spent. I would assume they would prefer us to be in the championship, for many obvious reasons but you wouldnt have thought it during the January transfer window.

We’ve no one with any influence that understands the leagues were in or trying to get to .
Dale understands but isn’t experienced enough at management level .
Gauthier brilliant at some things in his role but didn’t understand the leagues and what was needed to compete imo .
Coupled with Stendel and Winkler we had no knowledgable structure .
Enthusiasm and momentum can get you so far but it’s the things such as managing the referee . I know that’s controversial but it’s cost us with game wise opposition players in the refs ear .
The lack of experience is now tellng on us at the buisness end of the season with no one on the pitch to bollock or put an arm round these young players.
Imo young players need experience to draw from on the pitch and all they’re getting is from opposition winding them up etc.
By the time they’re wise to the tricks we move them on .
A couple of wise ,experienced leaders is needed if you are to bring these young players on they have no precedents when things go wrong so need to look up to someone .
The spreadsheet can still work with a majority of younguns but ffs let’s hsve some wisdom thrown in .
