I think that’s a bit harsh JP. Fleetwood are a good Club with a decent set of Supporters. It will say a lot about them as to how their Board react to the incident on Monday.
Watch the end of the sky highlights, looks like it was starting when they shook hands at the final whistle.
Spare a thought for our Joey. His team just lost to promotion contenders who are managed by a German guy who, in his first season has won many admirers with the way his team plays and his infectious enthusiasm, players and fellow managers all respect him highly. What will Joey Barton be remembered for?
Fleetwood have just released a statement of nothing...... https://www.fleetwoodtownfc.com/news/2019/april/club-statement/
To be fair if investigations are ongoing there probably isn't much they can say right now. BFC's statement is virtually identical.
Difference is Barton has been convicted of many things and found guilty, Evans convicted then subsequently found not guilty and awarded £200,000 for a rubbish barrister
Still wouldn't support the team if we signed him. Being cleared of rape on a technicality hardly makes him someone I want to see in a Barnsley shirt. Just a reminder of what was reported from the appeal. For me he should not be playing football. He is not a role model. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/oct/14/footballer-ched-evans-cleared-of-in-retrial
Wasn’t a technicality but a full re-trial, however understand where you are coming from, and let’s talk about happier things, our hopeful promotion for one
Yes, sure. I'm not going to fall out with anyone over it. It is just my opinion that cleared of rape or not, on the grounds that he got off on (which were highly controversial), he should not be playing professional football. I can guarantee if he was in another high profile career he wouldn't get a second chance.
