Wow! What a site. Cheers feller. Seems i’ve been to 107, but only 75 of the current 92. That’s not quite how I’m calculating it. If i’ve Been to a Club - it counts though still always trying to get to ‘new’ grounds where i’ve been to the old e.g Wimbledon and Bristol Rovers.
Too true Bri. Me and thee used to duck for cover. His belches were measured on the Richter scale and not in decibels. Saying has it at the reserve games his belches were heard in lundwood. Also loved the way he used to give the opposition dugout grief. Re Wimbledon Dales tyke . I've always counted the original Wimbledon and MK Dons as 1 league club. (Friggin franchise mk Dons they should be called)
Southampton it was mate. Ashley used to get me all the programmes from away even if I went. He and Kel got mentioned in the matchday programme. i'll stand corrected on the next bit. The match was a dinner time kick off Southampton v spurs. They then went to Chelsea ? v Barnsley afternoon. Then Barnet v ? Evening.
The day we went up to the Prem, was a memorable celebration. Barnsley folk are renowned for their friendliness and the ability to have a good time. I'll never forget the actual day we were promoted after the home game against Bradford City. There were good humoured Reds fans all over Town after that game, all determined to enjoy what was a very special occasion. After the nights " boozefest" , around a week after the game, a Barnsley Council employee who worked out of Smithies Depot , was telling me that the Council's Refuse collection teams had picked up several loads of broken bottles and smashed drinking glasses. That particular night will live long in the memory, it was indeed a great time to be a Reds supporter. Let's hope that under this new Board, that we get to celebrate a promotion to the Premiership in the not too distant future.
It was 1985 not 84.I went to the Southampton cup match at the Dell on a Monday night and I'm sure it was mentioned in their programme. The "92" was achieved the weekend prior at Spurs I think.
Great site! That's an absolute anorak's delight! I just plugged all mine in and I'm at exactly 100 which I hadn't realised. So my 100th was Glenavon v Institute earlier this year.
Memory fading a bit mate. But stuck in my head was the fact Southampton was Ashley’s 92nd against spurs and we had the fact that we drew Southampton out of the hat a short while after. Seeing him next Friday (you coming?) al clarify it with him.
I have 135 grounds including non league Conference and above but not all with reds many were as an official so not as good as Kelvin!
